Notes -
- Avion is a bird! He is roughly 140 feet (42m) from beak to tail, and has a 130 foot (39m) wingspan.
- Avion is one of the only two colossi that have a mouth! It's hard to spot, but keep an eye out, and you can see it. I think I angled the camera enough to show it.
- If Avion shakes you off, there's a good chance you're gonna go splash in to the water. However, you can land on the stone structures that litter the lake (pretty damn hard). If you end up on one of the high-up towers and piss him off from there, Avion will actually get close to you, flap his wings, and cause a gust that'll knock you off. I tried to pull this off for a while but didn't have any luck Maybe I'll try again later on in the LP as a bonus recording. I already have a couple of those sorts of things lined up, and I could do a compilation eventually.
- As shown in the video, Avion is one of the few colossi that are passive to our squishable protagonist. Even after being provoked, it simply tries to strike a couple of times, as if to say "hey, don't even think about it." After that, he will just circle for a while and eventually land on his perch until we make him angry again.
- Unfortunately, Avion's battle is one of those where luck is a factor at times. I didn't want to cheese the hell out of my grip gauge for the remainder of the game, just so I could make it through his barrel-rolls and sharp turns. Anyhow, in hard mode, Avion is quick to pull out more turns and tricky maneuvers.
- Random item here, but I can't stop laughing at Wander in the death cinematic Watch closely when it comes up.
- Kind of an open-ended colossus as far as interpretations go, isn't it? Some folks place him as being a phoenix. Almost all of the colossi seem to have a strong mythological history of sorts. A phoenix is pretty ideal, I'd think. However, the Latin name provided basically means "bird of prey". A phoenix doesn't usually come to mind as a bird of prey, to me. Given his swoop attack and lengthy legs/talons for snatching prey, this definitely still fits. The beak doesn't look right (long and straight, not curved), but that might just be obsessing over details right there.
