Notes -
- Kuromori is a newt! Or lizardy-type critter. I'm tempted to say komodo dragon, but they aren't much for climbing. He is 16 feet (5m) tall and 56 feet (17m) long from head to tail.
- His name, in Japanese, means "dark forest". Like Dormin says in the beginning of the video, you could see his lair in the ruins as being a stone forest, with himself in a bucket, or enclosed region within it.
- Of all the colossi, he's one that feels the most "off", in my opinion. Maybe it's the distinctively Eastern roots/meaning behind him? Then again, if they were out to grab various mythological references from several cultures, I'm sure you could tag him to something in Japanese myths.
- The gas left by his blasts are poisonous. Newts tend to secrete poison as a defense against predators. They don't go around spouting poisonous mists, but still Take a look at the point where I really get walloped by his gas for the first time, and you'll notice that Wander is shielding his mouth with his forearm. Also, his blasts seem to have some electrical charge to them. You might notice some arcs of electricity when he nails me on ground-level, near the end.
- Didn't get a good shot of it in the video, but Kuromori will peep his head in through openings/windows and shoot his gas in. The fourth artbook picture (screenshot at the bottom) gives a good glimpse of it.
I just find myself in a loss with this colossus. What say you, goons? Anyone care to shine some light on this fella, or potential mythology he is tied to?
