Part 89: Operation Chocolate Spain: Moroccan Turn 3

Operation Chocolate Spain: Moroccan Turn 3

I had mixed feelings about the last (enemy) turn, but I like the way this one turned out quite a bit.

Vehicle corpses. Everywhere is vehicle corpses. Unfortunately, one of our Cavalry Scout units is in retreat because they caught some crossfire from our own Greyhounds that were shooting at an enemy truck. Other than that incident, the center area is the most secure area on the map (with the possible exception of the ridgeline with the AMX-13s).

Of the two enemy Pattons that were charging the ridge, one of them was knocked out by a well placed round from one of our AMX-13s, and the other one has been damaged and put to the retreat. This means the only known Pattons remaining are the one in the center (which currently is not in the fire arc of any of our vehicles) and the one to the north.

Just in case someone missed that last part Enemy Patton down! Say Again: One enemy Patton down, and another Patton on the retreat!

Now, nothing really has changed to the north. It's still our pair of Greyhounds vs two Greyhounds and a Patton. Obviously we won't win this fight, but I still hope we can take down one or two of the M8s so they won't be in any position to harass the Mercenaries.

With that in mind, our lesser used Greyhounds have been redeployed to the center to protect the infantry and cover them as they move in range towards the enemy Patton.

Overall, we are still making steady progress in the center and we are still setting the southern plains alight.

I think the second we take out that northern Patton will secure victory for us unless MT has a very interesting reserve force. Speaking of which, what do we know about the enemy force?

We have destroyed:

7 M3 Halftracks
3 M8 Greyhounds
3 Medium Trucks
1 M47 Patton

This point value for these units is 385. However, the potential point value for the units in the transports is anywhere from 0 to about 230. This means we could have already cut down the enemy force by over a third.

Also, we know that MT took (at the very least)

- 2 M47 Sections (it could have been an M47 Platoon)
- 3 M8 Greyhound Sections
- 1 Mechanised Company
- 1 Legionaro Platoon

This leaves him with his HQ and around 102 points leftover. Therefore, we know that the enemy has - at most - an M8 Greyhound and a large amount of dismounted infantry behind our line of sight.
