Part 54: Epilogue

Chapter 52: Epilogue

All right, Jowy! It's time we put an end to this!

Or you can... run... away. ...Asshole.

"Then Jowy should..."

"Wha, wha....?? What's happening??"

"Watch out! The castle is collapsing! Look out!! Let's GO!!!"

"What are you saying?! Come on, quickly!"

"Don't even say that as a joke!"

"He'll come back. I know it. He can't die.... He's going to bring peace to this land... He just can't die."

"Look!"

"Riou!!"

"Riou!!!!!!"

"I was worried about you, Riou!!"

"Welcome back, Riou!!"

"That's the Riou I know!!! You're blessed with good luck in combat!!!"

"Riou!!!! Thank the gods!!!!!!!"

"You did it... you really came back, Riou!!!!"

"Terrific!!! Great!!!!"

A leader's work is never done, I guess.

"Representative General Makai from Two River and Mayor Gustav from Tinto are waiting for you int he great hall. C'mon hurry already! The war may be over, but there are still lots of things to be done. You've got a whole new country to create, right?"

However, before I go meet with any representatives of anything, I think we should take a nice, hot bath.

"What do you expect when you eat that much, fatso?"

"What did you say!!!! Who are you calling fatso!!!!"

"I'm calling you fatso, tubby."

"What are you talking about!!! This here is muscle!!!!"

"Okay. It's a big fat piece of muscle."

"Grrrrrrr..........!"

".............................."

They only get more weird, I promise.

"Sure. Cause he's working hard. Unlike you for example."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Just what it sounds like."

"What're ya talking about? I'm doing my part too."

"What part?"

"Well, umm...for example, I'm restricting myself to 5 cups of rice at dinner...."

"........................"

"What do you mean...'things'?"

"What do you think? Women of course. Eh, Romeo?"

"Grow up. Or would you like me to sheate Odessa in you?"

"You say that, but are you sure there's not someone......"

"Ridiculous!!! Belive me there's nobody I like even a little!!!!"

"Huh? What!!!!!!!! Not even a little!!!!!!!!!!"

And one more for posterity.

Also, I think it's important we wrap up the most important storyline of Suikoden II: The Final Cookoff Battle

"Congratulations, Lord Riou. Now we can finally begin to rebuild after this long, terrible war."

"Well, at least now there's one less enemy threatening City-State Soil."

"But we still don't have true peace in these lands. Lord Riou, there is something we wish to ask of you. Lord Riou, There's still Harmonia to the north of here and so we can't yet completely relax. Furthermore, because there was no trust between us, Luca Blight was able to divide the City-State. We need a single, unified country. One that can stand together against its enemies. Lord Riou, We want you to create a new country here, Riou Country, and we want you to lead it."

"This matter was voted on and approved by Two River's Three Houses of Parliament."

"If it means a stronger nation, able to defend itself, we have no objections either."

"The Knightdom of Matilda is no more, but we will follow your orders in this matter, Lord Riou."

"I feel the same way as Miklotov."

"Most of the strength of Muse was stolen by Luca Blight, but we still haven't lost our pride as the center of the State. As acting mayor of Muse, I also intend to follow the will of Lord Riou."

This is the first ending choice you get (well, beyond just... leaving before you go here). This choice leads to what I'll call the Country Ending

But that ending is boring.

I have to say I like how he just says "No" and then walks away.

"So where will you go, Riou!!"

"Riou...... there is a great power within you. I don't mean that Rune stuck in your hand either. You've taken a great burden on your back thus far, and you have a duty to fulfill it to the end. For all the people who died in the war and for the people who survived....."

"Let him go, Flik. It's necessary... that is... But Riou, don't forget. You've always got a home here....."

That's right. If we're really going to do this, we should go to where it all began.

"Just like you promised.......... Here we are.... Here once again.... This is where out journey began. You and I walked the along the same path for so long together, but this is where they began to diverge... But... I have no regrets. But if I did, it would be that I had to betray the City-State and assassinate Lady Anabelle... You and I were a lot alike..... We were both aiming for the same thing. But I just... At the Highland camp, after I let you escape ahead, I was captured and met Luca Blight again. I hated him from the beginning, it's true. But I think I admired his strength a little bit too...."

It wouldn't be Suikoden II if there wasn't one final flub, you know?

But..... No... Forget about it. This is a battle between the King of Highland and the leader of the Unicorn Army. This is truly... the final battle."

Here is where the real fun starts. If you defeat Jowy at this point, I'd say it's a bad ending, but it really isn't "bad," per se. I guess a lot of people call it Tragic, so:

Tragic Ending

Here are some clips from the ending:

However, there is one more ending. An ending that encompasses all of what Riou has fought for this entire time.

That, of course, being the Good Ending

Also, I am shamelessly stealing someone else's actual ending movie because there's really no reason to re-record it. Suikoden II's Ending March

Bonus Video: Combination Attacks

As a closing note, I had a great deal of fun doing this LP and I think it taught me a lot about how to do future games. One of these days I'm going to buy a Gamebridge and perhaps even play through Suikoden 3 although I am unsure if there are any others that are going to be taking such a daunting task.

I hope that everyone who's viewed this thread enjoyed it and I hope that seeing one of my favorite games of all time played through. If there's anything else anyone is curious about I'd be more than happy to go back and play through any of the earlier parts to see different dialouge choices.

I looked in the credits and didn't see anyone credited for translation of the game. Big surprise there, huh.
