Part 28: Intermission 8 – The RNG wishes a Merry Christmas

Intermission 8 – The RNG wishes a Merry Christmas

Welcome back. Originally I wanted to post the next plot chapter but realized fast that I had to go through 4 random encounters and got quite a few levels. So instead of me slogging through all these non essential encounters and me repeating myself over and over again we get it condensed with lots of level up screens. Who doesn’t like a RNG sponsered Christmas present?

Our first encounter is in Ligria Fort and mights be the most interesting of them all. Your team defends the city from invading monster but is closed in unless you break down the gates yourself. Easiest solution is getting rid of the harpies (there are two that tend to kill themselves on the archer anyhow) and fly out a pegasus knight to deal with the remaining monsters which is what I did with some long range mage support. The rest strolled in the arena or in Maerhen’s case followed his destiny.

: Hey you, would you mind hadeling the shop in my place?

: Alright, from now on you’re the owner of this weapon store. You better make money flow in.

And so ends the journey of Maerhen who started as a bandit and became the arms dealer of the Utna Alliance Army.

Sun gets her last level in the arena (it sucks) and is ready for promotion.

She becomes a Black Knight which is the second best promotion after Narron’s and really only needs some more strength to really shine.

Atrrom follows Sun in the arena and gets ready for promotion as well. Katri heals Frau who flew out to deal with the ogres and Holmes killed an approaching Gargoyle.

Atrrom seems to turn out great as well and is just in need of a few points of defense or a shield and maybe one or two points in Wlvl.

There is an item smith in this place as well who can “change” stat items.

Alicia and Frau defend the gates for some levels.

Samson gets a great level for killing the last Gargoyle and has a “special“ talk option with these guys.

: I don’t think there’s anything to worry about, but don’t let these magic beast get the better of you, you hear?

: Yes, Captain Samson!

Frau finishes the first random encounter.

The next one is a gift from the RNG itself. It consist only out of gold mummies who aren’t threatening at all and give lots of delicious XP. Let the slaughtering begin!

The RNG giveth and taketh away. Still Samson is ready for promotion.

The third random encounter is quite annoying. It forces you in tight quarters and the Savages hit hard and fast (one dude has a Silver Axe!). There is also a Draco Zombie in the south which has a nasty magic based AoE attack than can kill lesser units in one hit. You have to approach this one carefully and check ranges frequently to not lose a unit in a blunder.

Samson promotes and is basically set for life.

The last encounter is the second part of this cavern which has ogres like we’ve seen in the last two chapters who are far less threatening than the savages. Just clean up duty really.

And with that we are done with the random encounters and will return to plot relevant monster hunting when we enter Leda Valley next time. Till then Merry Christmas everybody.
