Part 437: King of the Pirates - Turn 7

King of the Pirates: Tactical Update 7

Idris cursed as the buildings behind him flew apart as PPC fire struck them. Flaming sheets of “plywood” apparently made from laminated sheets of grass and clay simply exploded when exposed to intense heat, and the buildings around him collapsed with a speed he’d never seen. The way the buildings fell left little hope for survivors—but also carried no risk of witnessing a flaming corpse tumble through the air. A trio of heavy-caliber slugs whipped past the Assassin’s shoulder, the closest missing by less than a meter. It took Idris a moment to even pick out his attacker’s outline: the blocky, sinister form of an Awesome.

He was familiar with the design, House Kurita probably had more Awesomes than any other state save the Free Worlds League, but its unexpected appearance at his back was more than enough to spoil his flanking attack. Timing thrown off, only two of the Assassin’s lasers managed to score hits on a Death’s Consorts design he’d never seen before. Idris would be the first to admit he couldn’t recognize every machine at a glance, but if the pirates were producing BattleMechs of their own…
