Pros:
+A wide variety of weapons
+Sticks are acutally good weapons
+A gigantic variety of status spells
+HP and MP draining magic
+Useful support and movement abilities

Cons:
-Same low HP as Wizards and Time Mages
-All magic is faith-based, which hurts against low-faith enemies or ones with bad compatibility
-Bosses are immune to the statuses you want to cast the most
-An optional special character is just a better Oracle, with more accurate, instant versions of the same spells

Want to turn enemies into ornate statues? Scare them until they literally become chickens? How about put them in a sleep so deep you can carry on a whole battle before they wake up? Oracles are fuckin' rad for that. Best of all, they get sticks, which are strong MA based weapons with a 2-panel range. Sticks are strong enough to let an Oracle deal damage on par with knights if you equip one right. Basically, if you don't want to apply statuses, you can poke an enemy to death. Oracles are fuckin' rad.

The issue comes with every spell being Faith-based. They can all miss, which can lead to a lot of frustration when you just. Can't. Hit. They also demand having high faith themselves, which can be mitigated by use of Pray Faith but that requires a turn and can miss, especially because you can't have good compatibility with yourself.

The biggest strike agianst Oracles is this guy:

This guy is a special character and his special job, Temple Knight, has versions of the Oracle spells that are more accurate, instant, and cost less MP. There's pretty much no reason to use an Oracle unless it's to get spells for Math Skill or to poke enemies with sticks.

Until then, I guess you can use Oracles all you want. They aren't bad at all, just, an Oracle 2.0 shows up.
