Part 54: Zeltennia Castle
Ramza is praying in a church. Incidentally, this would the best cutscene in WoTL if the volume were balanced right. As it stands now, it's a little below Ovelia and Delita.
Delita walks up...
And kneels beside Ramza.
: Why did the High Priest send you to Goltana?
: You came to Zeltennia to ask me that? ...Fine, I'll tell you. My duty is to assassinate Goltana and Orlandu...
: What...!?
: Shh...lower your voice. This is the real plan...
: Thereby causing people to distrust the government even more. Both armies will try to put down the revolts, but won't have enough soldiers.
: And to stop these, both armies are leading to Bethla. Everything is as you planned...
: Not quite yet. Because... During the battle Larg and Goltana will both be killed by someone. Of course the leaders will also be killed... Nantens' Orlandu, Hokutens' Zalbag, and Dycedarg... Losing their leaders, both armies will stop fighting and turn to peace...
: Then, the Church will become the 'mediator'...
: And the people will support the Church entirely. They even threw in the Zodiac Brave Legend.
: But the Zodiac Stone...
: Right now, you're the church's biggest obstacle.
: Aren't you trying to get the stones also?
Delita, apparently offended by this statement, stands up and says...
He means this, of course, in the "I am not their dog" sense because he just told us how he's working for the church.
And Delita explains what he means...
After a short pause, he continues.
: As long as we want the same thing...we won't be enemies.
: Come with me...
: I'm sorry, I can't. She needs me.
: She...?
: Prince or Princess... It doesn't matter as long as they are easily controlled. The High Priest's plan calls for a puppet government.
: You're just using Ovelia for your own ambitions?
: ...I don't know, but...
: But what?
: Delita...
: Is that strange?
: No, I believe you.
Suddenly, there is a gunshot and a voice bellows from outside!
: The Church is surrounded, come out quietly!
A note, the arrow is lying to us at this point.
Dammit, Zalmo, get off the roof.
: Now that you've seen me, I cannot let you live! C'mon, Ramza!!
: They're unknowingly part of the High Priest's plot! If you explain it well, they'd understand...
: Are you still so naive? ...Well, good luck!
Zalmo's just upgarded his hat and weapon. He's honestly about the same as last time, just with some more HP.
Oracles whose sticks nullify their own magic and some knights. Everybody has fucking knights anymore.
Delita's pretty well equipped.
Even if, in the space of two chapters, he's somehow only gotten 450 JP. Yeah, Equip Axe is totally more useful than Lightning Stab, nimrod.
Ramza poofs beside Zalmo. Sadly, he's immune to knockback. You'll have to wait a little until I fling someone off a roof.
Alright, let's end thi-
Zalmo has the amazing fortune to dodge both fists. Dang.
He hits Ramza with his Wizard Rod then an Oracle pops up to jab him with a stick. Today is not Ramza's day.
Well, since I kill him really quick he doesn't get a chance to say anything. Here's all the mid-battle conversation here:
: Do you know what you're doing? He's a top criminal! Anyone who helps him is guilty, too! You, leader of the Black Knights, dare oppose the Trial Examiners?
: I know who you are! That's why I must kill you all!
: What!? You audacious fool!! Your actions will disrupt the world order and oppose God's Natural Providence!! Are you trying to rebel against God!?
: Disrupt the 'order'? This 'order' you talk about is just a matter of your own convenience!! Using God as an 'order' to control the people is absurd! You have no right to take advantage of the innocent!!
: I don't care about God! I just want you to see the 'truth'!
: 'Truth'? Are you saying this is not 'truth'? You had a chance to clear the charges in the Cardinal murder/Zodiac Stone robbery. But you blew it by running away! That proved your guilt! We've already decided you're guilty and sentenced you! It's too late to say anything!
: Then I guess I must fight!
Eldena doesn't get a chance to hit him with an ironic Holy, though.
Norma pops up there and hits him with a Muramasa.
It's really painful.
Zalmo dies.
Not bad gil at all.
I bought one earlier, so I guess I can sell this one. They have a one-time Reraise and prevent a few statuses.
: The other is to see Count Orlandu.
: Thundergod Cid?
: I want his cooperation to uncover the Church's plot.
: How?
: I have strong 'proof' that will uncover the wrong-doing.
: He promised me if I had proof, he would stop the High Priest's conspiracy.
: Olan, huh?
Then a strange woman walks up to them.
: Several people were sent from Murond to help me. She's one of them.
: Hey, c'mon. She knows everything. She's the only one we can trust in the Goltana Army.
: You're the youngest Beoulve, Ramza, right? My name is Balmafula. Nice to meet you.
: And... what do you want?
: The Hokuten are moving.
: Is Ft. Bethla the target?
: Count Orlandu left for Bethla a while ago. Goltana's heading for Bethla... along with your Black Sheep Knights.
: I'll persuade the Count before any more die.
: I guess it's goodbye, Ramza.
: Stay alive, Delita.
: You too...
Ramza and Delita have a handshake. An old friendship is reaffirmed.
Once their done, Ramza leaves.
: You even use your friends.
: Shut up! What do you know?
She complies, and Delita stares angrily at the spot where she was standing.
I am not kidding.
