Part 2: Real Pirates Wear Purple.
Chapter 2: Real Pirates Wear Purple.

This rock suddenly fell from the sky... The impact must have knocked me out.

Again, I give you my thanks. I wish I could do something more to show my appreciation, but I really must go...

Whoops, I screen capped to early. That last word should be 'hey'.

Burtz goes through 20 methods of being confused. This is one of them.

I could talk to him...

...But I know the secrets of the forest!

Phoenix Downs cost 1000 gil. Free ones are appreciated.
Now to help old men...

Sakes alive... what's happened? I don't remember... Ehh...? I don't remember anything!

...Nope, just the name! Other than that, my memory's a blank slate...

Looking downward sadly. Get used to this face.

There's only one other way to go, as there's a meteorite in the way to Tycoon.

So...

What the fuck Boko?

...Now, don't give me that look.

Oh crap!

Well, you just hold up and things happen.

Oh, great, goblins.

These battles are exactly the same as the one in the forest.

Hoo boy, forced experience.

Get them, ride some more north...

Fade to black, screen transition...

Don't make Bartz get off his glorious perch

Plus, this time, it feels like- the wind is calling me.

We got two party members!

Lenna's got a Knife. To date, I know of no other place to get a Knife.

Galuf has no weapon and hits for jack for a while.

Say bye to Boko. He won't be seen in a while.

Hey, it's a cave in a RPG. I'm already in random encounters.

Steel Bats cast Vampire, which drains HP equal to what they've lost. Devil Crabs have a lot of defense, so Galuf can't even hurt them. Both die in one hit to Burtz' amazing broadsword.

Stropers hit slightly harder than the other enemies. At this point, you have jack for mid-battle healing, but it shouldn't be an issue unless you're trying to get KOed.

Let's go check it ou

I'm beginning to hate this cave.

Free infinite healing! If this were anywhere near a good place to level, I'd might care.

A bit deeper in, we spy a pirate on patrol!

He presses the switch to open a passage in the wall!

This hat provides the same defense boosts as Leather Armor, but at half the weight. Too much weight can hurt your speed in battle a bit, but is something you really don't need to worry about.

Gee, I'd be able to look outside if your text box wasn't in the way.

A boat...

That passage outside leads nowhere interesting, so let's go deeper into the ca

Dammit!
Back attacks not only reverse rows-putting strong guys in the back to hit for less and mages in the front to get mauled-but hit your starting ATB, pretty much letting the enemy rough you up for free.

Jolly Roger banners, guys with eyepatches, Very swashbuckling music, Must be the pirate's base!
NEXT TIME:

Burtz is more of a failure than usual!
