Part 6: Boating Hazards
Chapter 6: Boating Hazards

Thus ends the saga of the key.

Suckers, the white squids, are weak to lightning, while Octokrakens, the purple octopi, are not. That is the only real difference between the two.

For whatever reason, Dash works here too. It's a thing of beauty to watch this boat just zoom.

Galuf gets !Focus, which allows him to spend a turn charging up a more powerful attack.

Giant whirlpools are a regular feature of canals... right?

Karlabos is humorously weak to Thunder, taking 150 damage from it. Burtz and Galuf pummel him for ~90 each hit, so the oversized crayfish doesn't last.

He has a few tricks. Tail Screw reduces a single character's HP to single digits, while Antenna does damage and paralyzes, taking the target out of commission for a while.

As the second boss, he isn't very hard.

Hey, wait, why is my Plesiosaurus still in the whirlpool?

Sinking like that is not a good thing, is it?
...Later...

The boat just keeps drifting until...

The party comes to in a reef filled with derelict ships.

F: The graveyard of the sea...

The Ship Graveyard consists of hopping on stones and exploring interconnected hulls. You can rest in Faris' room of your ex-ship, but there's no save point until later.

You should hop on stones, because the Flail is the best weapon for a White Mage until 2/3 of the way through the game.

Skeletons are very open to Fire and Cure. A Black Mage's Fire can down every skeleton in a group. Skeletons drop Daggers, and the next weapon shop is the first place that sells them.

Say hi to "creepy" fog. He's gonna pester screenshots for a while, okay?

Calcruthls are weak to lightning while being very much alive. They sometimes drop Elixirs, of all things.
Preemptive Strikes have you start the battle with everyone's ATB full.

Fire works just as well underwater as it does above.

I love this pirate crate.

After spending several continuous hours underwater, the crew finds a safe, dry room.

Goddammit I fucked up the SURPRISE AND SHOCK.

After somehow peacefully sleeping on a ghost ship...

Galuf, however, falls out of bed ungracefully.

So, a free rest and a save point in the next room. You know what that means!

NEXT TIME:
Another boss fight! a real town, with real shops!
