This is the first, and shorter, part of the introduction chapter. I'll post the second part tomorrow evening, since I'll be on the road for most of the coming Sunday.

Characters

Christopher Stone

Brooklyn born and raised, Chris was a plumber before the Soviet invasion of the USA. He did not believe his brother's anti-communist rantings, nor did he take any interest in the signs that a long-planned Soviet invasion was imminent. Chris escapes the forces of the Red Army and General Tatarin, going underground on the first day of the occupation and joins the resistance.

Troy Stone

Troy, formerly a plumber alongside his brother, is captured by General Tatarin as the Soviets invade.

Mr. Jones

Manhattan Resistance military and intelligence advisor. Too old to be effective in combat, Mr. Jones aids the resistance as an intelligence expert, directing many of its operations early on. It is not known what he did prior to the Soviet invasion, nor is it known where he gets all the information he has.

Phil Bagzton

Manhattan Resistance munitions expert. Phil joins the New York resistance on the day of the Soviet invasion, having been rescued by Chris and Mr. Jones after being shot by Red Army soldiers. He quickly proves to be little more than a cowardly braggart, constantly boasting but almost never seeing actual combat.

General Vasillj Tatarin

Commander of the Soviet occupation force in the US and the primary antagonist. Born in 1958 in the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, General Tatarin is a field warrior, hailing from a long line of soldiers. Tatarin is a highly skilled and accomplished soldier, the subject of great loyalty and respect from the men under his command. He is as brutal as he is charismatic.

Tatiana Kempinski

Soviet propaganda newscaster. Educated partly in the United States, spending several years there prior to the invasion, but a staunch follower of the Soviet cause. Kempinski is a news anchor at the Soviet Armed Forces Network (SAFN) studios in New York City, regularly broadcasting what the Soviet government wants the people of New York to know.

Weapons

Monkey Wrench

"A plumber's best friend, the monkey wrench is surprisingly effective in close combat and it's essential for opening manhole covers."

Despite being a useful tool, the wrench is also a competent melee weapon. There is a basic melee move that you can always perform, but the wrench will do more damage. Pretty handy for close quarters or when you want to conserve your ammo. Also it's just plain fun to smash faces with a wrench. Supposedly, it's not able to trigger "headshots", but I'm not really sure if that's true.

Pistol

"The Soviet standard sidearm fires 17 semi-automatic rounds per clip."

Kind of looks like an M9 to me, but let's believe the manual. It's a pretty decent sidearm, moderate accuracy and damage coupled with a high rate of fire. Seeing as there are only two sidearms, this will be my main choice. Ammo will be plentiful in the first part of the game but can get somewhat scarce later on.

Enemies

Soviet Security - Special skills: None

You'll only see them in the beginning of the game. They wear brown uniforms with army caps, and use a pistol. But I've also seen one whip out a Baton to whack me, and in rare cases they can carry better guns. They pose no real threat though and have no fancy moves.

Soviet Soldier - Special skills: Able to use a variety of guns

They are the backbone of the invasion force. Wearing grey uniforms and helmets, they come with pistols in the beginning, but will quickly progress to assault rifles and grenades. Though you'll occasionally see them using an even wider range of guns. While they are the grunts, they certainly are no chumps. Their AI is smart enough to use cover, emplaced weapons and to coordinate with each other. They'll act more careful when in smaller numbers, but will become quite aggressive in larger groups. Still, a well placed headshot or a good volley to the chest will put them down.

Vehicles

Hind-D Assault Chopper

Choppers will show up at several points in the game and you should fear them. Aside from multiple machine guns, they are also equipped with rocket pods. These fuckers will kill you really fast and should be avoided like the plague. You can destroy them, but that requires a certain weapon which is pretty rare to find and even harder to keep supplied. The other way to get rid of them is to accomplish certain objectives which will then remove them from your current chapter. This is pretty much the first priority in any given chapter. At least for me.
