Part 1: Introductions!
Chapter 1: Introductions!
Snazzy presentation image, eh?
"Jesus, Cuddy on the look-out!
I hope she won't pester me with the practice!"
And those are the first lines in the game by everyone's favorite misanthropic physician/diagnostician. Hopefully, this game will be rather enjoyable.
And the developers clearly used the british diminutive for television. As for the practice thing, could it be clinic duty or something.
And there it is. An isometric adventure game. House walks painfully slow, but then again, that is comprehensible. The furniture reminds me of Theme Hospital, for some reason.
Ah, it also works as a tutorial. One speaks to the other characters (or studies them) by placing the good ol' Dr. next to them, and using the action key. One can only assume that items will be interacted with in a similar fashion.
So, let's see what Dr. Lisa Cuddy has to say to our intrepid hero with a leg problem.
"I hope it's not for sex, I happen to have a headache..."
Clearly, Gregory House is a master of wit.
"I need you to see a patient. He's a dear friend of mine."
Ah, the ever present (or at least should be ever-present) lazy asshole response.
"No, I'd rather you do it. You are the most qualified to find out what he's got."
"I'll do it if you give me a peck."
"House! I'm serious! I want you to test him."
"What level of friendliness?"
"What?"
"Yes, I mean, if it's a childhood friend, you know, one you held hands with...
Or maybe you did naughty things in dark places..."
"That's not your business!"
"So, you had something. Naughty, naughty... Oka, I'm interested!"
"Well, you have his medical record on your desk.
Your team has been long waiting for you there."
Gas to the stick?
"I'll go to the office to see what the medical record says."
Whenever you try to interact with any of the other standing persons there, House has a reaction to them. Since the same sprites appear in other rooms have the same reactions, I will only take screenshots of the unique ones, not of the repeats.
There are a LOT of these. Wilson goes out quite a bit, it seems. But then again, that is to be expected.
Also, this game is clearly set before the end of season 3, so the team is composed of Cameron, Chase and Foreman.
Pausing and then resuming, or saving and then loading the save gives you a summary of your current objective. That is a nice feature that would be appreciated in more games, I think.
Ah, House. Always trying to get out of there.
See? It repeats.
A mafia dude gave House a car as a present? Must've skipped that ep.
I am sure Wilson's office will be an important locale in the future updates. They did say that House's vicodin addiction would be a factor in the game, I am personally hoping for a pill-popping minigame.
Oh House, you horndog, you.
House being considerate? Immersion: Ruined.
"I don't like visiting the sick unless strictly necessary."
House does like bikes.
In the future that may be necessary.
Oh House, why must you be so vain and superficial, don't you know that what matters is on the inside?
All that messy gross innards are what counts.
And there it is, House's office.
Big... Mandingo?
Ah, the possible responses.
"Come on, you go by bike."
"I had to rescue a kitten from a tree."
"You doing a good thing?
Where is House and who are you?"
"I got a flat tire in my motorbike"
"What else... Can we start with the patient?"
"Cuddy has left the medical record on your desk.
Would be better if you get to know it before beggining."
Okay then, let's go to the adjacent room and check House's desk.
There it is. The thing on the right. That's the file.
"It says the patient had a fall when walking up the stairs in his flat.
But when he was brought into hospital they realised that two of his fingers looked purple.
I'll talk to the guys to do some tests."
Oh House, you rascal. This is not MOnkey Island. And the monkey had 3.
Or would her? Dundundunnnn.
Wait what. Cervix resonance?
Wasn't the patient referred to as a male?
Or is it a case of badly translated Spanish to English? I do not know.
Medical babbling! The best part of the show! (or not)
Ah, House and his favoritest soap operas.
Was House's soap opera ever named in the show? I don't remember.
And with that, they are gone.
Ooooh, is that a possible vicodin-related minigame lurking in the future, or the next update?
I sure hope so.
