Part 293: Clanmates Recaptured
To arms!
The Taralings have an actual defense force since we haven't been grinding them into a paste, but we outnumber them anyway. The game defaults to "take captives", and I'm assuming we'll get a "we won, but we didn't recapture our carls, dumbass" message if I change it. Not that I have any reason to.
I am very sorely tempted to do the Sword-Throwing Feat, because it's called the Sword-Throwing Feat. On the other hand, trying to hit flying dudes with missiles didn't work out so well last time. But...Sword-Throwing Feat.
That's...sort of good? I think? Maybe?
Whatever. We won, we freed our people, and got extra loot on top of it.
Koreng gets to take a delivery of food over to the Orlundi so they like us more.
And Ashart gets to go see if the Hillhavens have a better treasure than all the other riffraff we've talked to. We're running out of nearby clans to buy treasures from, so he'll be a while.
This is why the Blue Jays should have been proper dragonfriends like us to avoid strange dragonewt stead-building, and they should have also sent their trickster off to rule the dwarves like we did to avoid trickster blindness-hairlessness. We are truly much wiser than they.
We continue to be in the holding pattern of "accumulating more of everything."
And the omens think we should call
What are our goals for this year? Also pick a heroquest for us to do. Stats of young nobles, Penterest, and Oranda(since there's been some interest in making her Harvar's future replacement) are below.
Humakt The Champion. Possible rewards include strengthening the quester, defending against undead, reconciling the weaponthanes, obtaining a treasure, and bestowing Humakt's blessing upon our battles.
Chalana Arroy Heals the Scars. Possible rewards include healing the sick/wounded, mending a rift in the clan, making peace with a neighbor, making the quester wiser, or making our wounds heal faster in the future.
Elmal Guards the Stead. Possible rewards include strengthening our defenses, gaining fine horses, strengthening our leaders or the quester, warding against chaos, or reconciling the weaponthanes.
The Making of the Storm Tribe. Possible rewards include improving the tribe's mood, regaining the king's favor, reconciling our tribe with another clan, gaining tribal regalia, making our clan king-makers, improving our reputation or political abilities, and making the quester a strong leader.
Orlanth and Aroka. Possible rewards include bringing rain, strengthening our clan or the quester, making dragonewts fear us, or bringing back a treasure. We already got Splendorbread from this.
Ernalda Feeds The Tribe. Rewards include bringing back a (useless) treasure, increasing crop yield, making peace with the elves, making our cows healthy, reconciling the farmers, and strengthening the quester.
Lhankor Mhy Finds The Truth. Rewards include learning new myths, making our quester or the leaders wise, fighting darkness(whatever the hell that means), defending against chaos, and "learning more about dragon pass"(revealing more of the map, in reality).
Issaries the Conciliator. Rewards include "learning more about dragon pass"(revealing more of the map, in reality), learning the secrets of a myth, making the quester stronger, improving relations with a cult/another clan/outsiders, improving trade relations, and ending a feud.
I also noticed a surprise while savestating to review the stats of non-ring nobles, but you don't get to know what it is yet. Anticipation! (It's nothing that will affect our heroquest choices for the year, for what it's worth)
