One last sacrifice, and the year ends without incident.
So the question must be raised--why was 1231 so dull? And the answer is somewhat grim--it looks like if you load a save game, there will be no random event that month. So by saving the game and quitting several times today, I was removing the vast majority of random events that you would otherwise enjoy.
So! Gotta do years in stretches now, saving and quitting only during sacred time and leaving my computer whirring away in the meantime. What a pain that is.
