Part 55: Day 257-258: Hollow

Music: Sacred Moon

Unless I'm in a challenge where I can't use attack magic, I'll use Phantom Gear++.

This is the final delay, I promise!

Music: A Day in Agrabah
Music: Arabian Dream

Glide LV+. I can finally fill up that blank slot in Glide! I completely forgot to do that later.

If you read last Challenge update, you'll know that Blizzara is amazing against armors.

Hi-Potion and Hi-Ether. There's plenty of Loudmouths around.

Blizzard Recipe. There's still plenty of Loudmouths. The box is here, but we don't need it anymore.

Hi-Potion. I completely forgot to pick it up in the mission, so I have to get it back after killing the boss.

Thundara Recipe and Blizzara Recipe. There's 2 Fire Plants here.

There's also this Aerial Master. This is the only one.

There's more of them, but they're all in the upper area. We're not reaching it until basically the end of the game.

Music stops

Twilight Station Tower: 47
Sea-Salt Ice Cream: 85

Music: Crossing the Finish Line

I don't think I can delay it any longer...

I'm sure the boss mission on Halloween Town has nothing to do with the mission number!

I added a Limit Recharge to the new panel, by the way. I completely forgot to add Glide LV+. Oh well.

Silver. You might notice that unlike usual, I'm not posting the map and battle music at once. That's because there's a grand total of 3 Heartless we'll see today.

There's gotta be an explanation...

Music: Spooks of Halloween Town

A Heartless!

Whoa! That's...that thing from before!

Welp. That's one Heartless down.

What!? It...eats Heartless?

Gust Gem. Tentaclaws destroyed: 3. These Tentaclaws are basically exactly the same as before. Don't use Magic or Limit here, since we'll need them for later.

Music: This is Halloween

I guess that explains the drop in the Heartless population... Maybe I should see what's happening outside of town.

Thundaga Recipe. We haven't gotten any yet, nor can we make/buy them. We'll be getting them pretty soon, though.

*Roxas starts to run after them, but...*

Music: Spooks of Halloween Town

Well... One thing at a time.

The Tentaclaw up here are a pain to fight. Just use Magic for this one. Don't use Blizzara, though. As I learned later (but not soon enough), Blizzara against Tentaclaws are pretty much useless.

Tentaclaws destroyed: 8. Yeah, there's 5 of them here. At least I got 5 Gear Component C from them. None of them will appear after this, sadly.

Music: This is Halloween

Before that, let's get the chest in Boneyard 2.

Music: Spooks of Halloween Town

This caught me off-guard. I didn't expect to fight an actual Heartless here. The ACTUAL chest has a Shining Crystal.

Music: This is Halloween

Beyond the ladder, there's Blazing Crystal, Frost Gem, and Silver. And an Ordeal Badge too, I guess. We get here through the moving hill from Moonlight Hill, but I guess that's not available now for some reason. Even those three have to use the ladder.

The water under the bridge is green. Keep it in mind for later. So we go to the Manor Ruins.

Music: Vim and Vigor

Boss: Leechgrave

You might remember me mentioning Leechgrave in the OP. This is also the grave I mentioned in the previous thread title.

Welp. Here it is. The third worst boss in the game.

There's also 4 Tentaclaws around. We only have to kill the Leechgrave, though. So let's attack it...

What would happen if we attack Leechgrave immediately posted:

It has a combo that hits like a truck. A full combo is enough to take all of Roxas' HP.

Its other attack is nowhere near as dangerous. It just deals piddly amount of damage.

Regardless, the combo is still enough to kill Roxas very quickly even with Auto-Life. Those 2 bars are from Limit alone, and I only survive because of Auto Life. Yes, I used Cura.

...For some reason, I felt that I shouldn't attack it immediately and instead take out the Tentaclaws first.

The Tentaclaws has a new trick now. One of them is signified by it shooting out poison. I don't think the poison itself actually does anything.

Not actually a trick, but they're now stunned after being blocked. This is a godsend.

Anyway, the Tentaclaws can now actually grab and swallow Roxas

Thankfully, Roxas isn't a Heartless so he doesn't get digested.

The chest in the distance has a Premium Orb. It's the hardest synthesis material to farm.

The Tentaclaws still has their usual attack. The sound effect and aesthetics are different to the one we fought on the way here. There's no way to differentiate between this and the swallowing attack without getting hit.

The Tentaclaws will shoot out poison before it try to swallow Roxas. Otherwise, it's just the normal attack.

Meanwhile, we're getting sniped by the Leechgrave itself.

Kill all 4 of them and Leechgrave will be stunned. It will take more damage now, so it's the best time to use Limit and deal plenty of damage.

After a while, the Tentaclaws will respawn and the process repeats. It doesn't sound so bad, right? It's just like Ursula in CoM! They even bothered making the Tentaclaws weaker and stunnable!

Well, the first problem is that the Leechgrave will be stunned for only 15 fucking seconds. Without Limit, that's nowhere near enough time.

Be prepared to kill the Tentaclaws over... And over... And over...

Oh, Leechgrave's final attack is releasing poison. This is will sap Roxas' HP, just like Poison Plants' seeds. This and the devastating combo makes ignoring the Tentaclaws a bad strategy.

Oh, and don't try to be cheeky and use Magic to snipe it. It's immune to ALL magic, So Blizzara in the face does not work here

Oh, come on! At least let me actually kill the Tentaclaws quickly!

Tentaclaws destroyed by this point: 16. Sadly, I didn't have Limit for the second round.

On a lighter note, you see the flames in the distance? That's where we came from. There's 0 chance of us going back through that way.

Eventually, I just decided "fuck it" after getting the Limit and immediately used it.

This is a slog. The concept is okay, but the boss would be better if they made Leechgrave vulnerable for a longer time. At least like 30 seconds or so. The sad thing is that this isn't even the worst boss in the game

And for fuck's sake don't make us kill 8 Tentaclaws before even getting to the boss!

Leechgrave releases its poison for the final time.

And it finally collapses. Good riddance.

Music: This is Halloween

*Roxas leaves*

Yes, yes, yes! I've got it!

You might remember that the entrance is way up and we have no way of going back through it. Well, we can go back through the sewer. This brings Roxas to the green moat I mentioned before.

How exactly does blue water turns into green go?

Oh, Jack. Even your cuteness can't counteract the pain caused by Leechgrave . I won't even question how you managed to build that before we get here.

Stealthy and clever, it appears out of nowhere with spooky black tendrils growing out of its hands! Under its cloaks, it conceals a countless battery of bombs!
A fiend like this is guaranteed to plunge everyone into the very depths of fear!
Fascinating. And you plan to make this the centerpiece of next Halloween?
Yes! The idea occurred to me just moments ago.
Well, you have my full support. Quite a novel idea you've come up with this time, Jack.
I'm glad you like it. I can't wait to get busy building more of them!

*Jack and Dr. Finklestein leave*

Is this thing supposed to be...me? ......
I'm really not seeing it.

The spiky yellow hair and black cloak?

Wha-?

I'm sure we all know what happens next.

Ah ha ha! We got you!

*All three of them leave*

Again!? Ugh... They haven't changed a bit.

Music: Crossing the Finish Line

I can't even be happy about Curaga because it's pretty much useless . This mission is pretty much tricks with very little treats.

So...um...I guess... Happy Halloween?
