Let's Play: LEGO Star Wars

LEGO Star Wars is a game that does exactly what it says on the tin. One part LEGO, one part Star Wars, all fun for the whole family. Take the favorite building toys from your childhood and let them populate a world where the Prequel Trilogy had no dialogue and you get a perfect concept executed pretty well overall. This game inspired a sequel, a remake, and a whole series of LEGO+license games in the same vein.

You are placed in the plastic shoes of the prequel protagonists in all the most exciting action scenes of The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. Use the force to reshape the terrain and build the tools you need, shoot droids to pieces, and clash lightsabers with the enemies of the Republic. Collectibles and unlockables are around every corner, adding to replay and crossover possibilities. What if Jar Jar dueled General Grievous? Find out eventually! The cutscenes are also very funny and much better than the films they reenact.

This LP will cover the whole game and all unlockables. The entire story mode of the three films was recorded in a single session. That means we can't fulfill requests until we go back to do Free Play, and we get steadily less lucid over the course of the films. It also means a fairly quick update schedule, so there's that to look forward to. I am a Star Wars fan, short of cultist but beyond casual and am taking Player 1. Chip is aware it exists but doesn't really know what's going on and is player 2. Role reversal is a good exercise for any healthy relationship.

Co-op in this game is arcade style "press start to join" and a lot of fun. Co-op is actually harder in many parts because the camera just doesn't work if you ever plan on splitting up. The camera is much more dangerous than any Sith. Friendly Fire is always on and consequences are low, so expect some dicking with each other.
