Dungeon Hythloth: Complete solution (Part
1)
We head down through the flooded area.
Eventually we reach some stairs. Climbing them brings us
up into the primary part of the dungeon.
We go east at the intersection.
The room we enter has a small tank of water covered by a
spiderweb. Ignore the water for now and jump over it.
Pushing the loose block opens a secret
tunnel.
At the end of the tunnel is a chest.
It contains the green Statue Key.
There is a valve hidden in the water in the previous
room. Opening the valve lowers an elevator somewhere else in the
dungeon.
Now we head back to the intersection. This time we go
west.
There's a ring hanging in a cobweb on the
left.
The next room is a large one, flooded with swamp water.
As we discovered in Paws, swamp water poisons us rather quickly. A ledge
on the right has a chest with a scroll of Light in it, which - in
retrospect - I probably should have had running when I was taking these
shots.
Our destination is on the opposite corner of the room. We
have to jump into the water and swim across.
Once we get there we are very severely poisoned. The
ledge has Cure and Healing potions, so we drink them both.
The chest in the corner contains our second article of
magic armor: the Swamp Boots. When worn, these magical boots prevent the
swamp water from poisoning us.
Now we swim across to the elevator. Riding it up puts us
in a small room with a yellow pedestal in it.
Hitting the switch on the wall opens the gate leading
deeper into (...or out of?) the dungeon.
The now-open gate lets us go north at the first
intersection.
...which leads us to another
intersection.
Going west leads to a small room, with a tunnel leading
down. We jump into the tunnel.
Diving underwater nets us the red Statue
Key.
Turning the crank on the wall raises the water level high
enough so we can get out.
