Part 50: Evolutionary history of the Elerians
my dad posted:
Judging by their looks, they also have more human blood in their hands.
Interesting, that. Human and Elerian biochemistry is incompatible; Elerians do not actually use DNA to store genetic information. Still, the extreme structural similarity between Humans and Elerians is hard to avoid noticing, and Elerians lack a fossil record clearly linking their evolutionary development to the rest of their homeworld's biological history. Structurally modern Elerians first appear in the fossil record about ten thousand Earth years ago with no clear predecessors on their planet, although they share basic biochemistry and genetic similarities with the rest of their planet's biosphere. The establishment of this fact after Elerians developed the practise of science has actually reinforced their religious belief to be the children of the Matron Goddess.
