Part 82: Keep Bowlin' Bowlin' Bowlin'...
Overview: BowlMan is honestly one of the most predictable bosses in the series. This isn't an exaggeration. While GutsMan tends to use GutsPunch if you're in the front row, he will sometimes mix it up with GutsHammer. BowlMan has a set, pre-defined pattern that he does not deviate from. This makes fighting him more akin to the bosses in Classic series, but makes him extremely easy to take control of. Although his Gatling Pin attack controls the whole field, it isn't really an issue. Just move up and down. Frankly, he needs to be harder. About the only positive thing I can say is that his attacks destroy obstacles and shields.
Movement Pattern:
Move--Move--Gatling Pin--Move--Move--Gatling Pin--Summons Pins-Bowling Ball--Move--Bowling Ball--[..]
NO deviation. At least with most other bosses, they attempt to disguise this. Hell, even though MistMan is super predictable, his other attacks differ in range pretty greatly. He even gets a neat desperation attack!
Top Tier
: As shown in the video, a Magnum2 on the middle row will stop all of BowlMan's moves. It's really unfortunate BowlMan can only attack straight.
: Basically the same reason as Magnum2.
: BowlMan's summoned pins will count as "something behind you" for NoBeam. Free obstacle summon for 200+ damage paralysis chain? YES!
: Just one of these will completely stop the bowling balls in the second phase.
Average-High Tier
: Creates holes to completely disrupt BowlMan's attacks. Seriously, why is this chip popping up everywhere.
: Even THESE work because BowlMan's AI is so predictable!
: Solid on the first phase. Good code line up with NoBeams as well.
: The first phase is such a bore, I swear.
Suck Tier
: Actually not all that great considering BowlMan spends his time far away from you.
: BowlMan breaks all your obstacles with his pins. He is just as fast as you, meaning this will likely break before it deals any damage.
: Why. BowlMan will probably just move out of the way, plus his Gatling Pin would destroy it.
: Pushes him towards you; don't do this.
: Too unpredictable to be worth using. The bowling balls and pins can trip the mine.
Fox News Tier
: Do you really want him CLOSER to you?
: All of his attacks can break shields, so this is a dead draw.
: You deserve a beating
: Too slow.
: Swords are a poor choice here. BowlMan spends most of his time far away from you and doesn't ever have to get close.
: Not worth the stone it's made with.
I had to get Team Style on my Blue file. No 120 HP this time. For those that don't know, they nerfed the speed of the Aqua buster in Battle Network 3. Even at charge level 5, it's no longer lightning fast.
I have deja vu.
What I used for the V3 chip. NoBeams work exceptionally well. There's a bunch of random nonsense here. It's just so I don't kill him too fast and show off what I need to. But yes, never use garden variety sword chips on this guy.
What I used for the V2 chip. It's a huge joke folder so I didn't bother to go over it. Mine * can be easily grinded in Secret 3, for those curious.
And for the last one. Once again, NoBeams present themselves. A couple of Sensors were thrown in just in case I drew a NoBeam. Once again, it's somewhat of a joke folder. NoBeams do a lot of damage and it would have been a shame to end the fight so fast. The GutsPunch is clearly a cherry tap.
