Part 50: Catharsis.
And now, the thrilling conclusion. Not yet it isn't. We destroyed the evil soul, but NebulaGray persists.
The DarkPower has only ever been impressive when I've been using it, Regal. Poetic justice, really. You saw what happened to ShadeMan earlier!
On the other hand, this is a much more direct route of attack. NebulaGray conjures up the evil souls once again, but this time sends them all flying at MegaMan!
Yeah, and that worked out real fucking well when you tried that before. Oh ChaosUnison, you're so lovably broken.
Presumably this is a much stronger effect than implanting a DarkChip directly. Which begs the question of why it wasn't done before. That's Regal for you.
Again, if it's so much more effective...typical.
Have we used the word 'evil' enough yet? And yes, archive reader, that's an actual emoticon. Shaezerus made it, Starkclamp bought it, right after the last update.
And this is an intervention for your own damned good, speaking of! No more buying! You've spent more money than actually buying all the games from the thread so far (albeit used) would have cost! Let's see, Ineffiable's avatar, Screaming Idiot's, that emoticon, your own Masters of Science avatar...that's at least 55 bucks right there. Although you've probably made Lowtax happy.
The addiction of spending vs. the DarkPower. Which will win?
*Sound effect*
You know, speaking of amulets, Diddy Kong Racing comes to mind. And the cartoon of the series actually did have a 'NetRacing' episode that had the WWW Navis in a train (not ChargeMan.Exe, actually), among other things. Lan and MegaMan presumably would have to collect all four pieces of the MagnoMetal Amulet by clearing boss rush races or something.
SoulNet itself isn't evil, you yourself corrupted it with your stupid 'amplified evil soul' thing.
(Courtesy of Depressing Box. Gaussian Evil is hysterical.)
NebulaGray is a pretty ridiculous final boss, and coupled with Regal, I thank Shaezerus, Starkclamp, and Depressing Box for immortalizing the incompetence of Nebula.
This update is more non-sequitor than informative so far, so getting back on track! It's been a while since the old Synchronization theme of the series has come into play. But yeah, SoulNet is more or less global synchronization, so this is a valid tactic from Lan.
SoulNet, come to think of it, doesn't seem to bother Navis at all, despite the effect it had on the humans of Team Colonel that was shown. Something to do with increased ability to process information, perhaps?
The problem with Lan's idea makes itself apparent. Considering how billions of human and Navi souls are linked via SoulServer, it may be a bit difficult.
Ah, however! Invoking MegaMan's human name is like Power Word: Plot Device.
The universe responds accordingly. Deus Ex Machina Ex Machina time!
After MMBN2, there never was a mention of hub.bat again aside from the bonus NaviCust program, come to think of it. Well, I'll assume that the FullSynchro game mechanic represents it spontaneously becoming active. Back in MMBN2 Yuuichiro did mention that high performance battling between Lan and MegaMan results in him subconsciously running the still-installed hub.bat program.
By the way, although this looks ridiculous in that a literal voice out of nowhere has encouraged Lan, it isn't. Remember how Dr. Tadashi Hikari left a digital copy of himself inside Alpha? In Team ProtoMan, this is revealed to be a similar case, whcih makes sense considering the time and effort put into it. Team Colonel chooses to reveal something completely different, and I honestly can't wait to see the reactions to it.
Behold the might of Power Word: Plot Device, Regal! MegaMan causes the screen to flare white...
You could consider this an extension of FullSynchro, the real form and highest level of power MegaMan has. Remember in MMBN4 (though it pains us all) how the cheers of humanity caused MegaMan to gain strength? Now he's directly linked to every soul in the world. And they want him to destroy Nebula once and for all.
And while he is technically naked, there's obviously no point in a Navi having anything worth covering up, as will be shown in a bit.
"DARKNESS EVIL DARKNESS BLAH BLAH I AM INVINCIBLE"
NebulaGray begins to conjure up more evil souls. Due to the usual shoddy text spacing, I'll finish it for the game. That's supposed to end with "the evil soul!"
Yes, I love this emoticon. And how Regal looks like he's sulking like a spoiled brat. The Blink Animation is officially my co-commenter on these games, that settles it once and for all.
See? Nothing. And with a wave of Hub's hand...
Line for fucking line, Regal. Most cliche villain in the whole MegaMan franchise, I swear.
MegaMan reverts to normal, weakened due to overexertion.
Which is unfortunate, because NebulaGray re-ignites!
NebulaGray rears back, ready to attack MegaMan directly.
We've had Dr. Tadashi Hikari, Hub...there's only one more character with enough influence and strength over the plot to help now in this game!
Interestingly, despite how in Team ProtoMan Colonel shows up to help cure DarkProtoMan, he also shows up in this scene in the same role. Him saving MegaMan happens in both games.
MegaMan is too exhausted to even fire a single shot, unfortunately.
Who says this is unknown, but it's implied to be one of the Navis, not Dr. Tadashi Hikari again. I'm going to guess KnightMan.
Considering that everyone is linked by those, this acts as a direct power conduit for MegaMan.
Let me tell you, getting pictures of this despite the usual flicker-based visual effects was fun...
Regal! You and your taint of the MMBN series with your infinite depths of stupidity ends now. No more fucking darkness rants! No more ridiculous, self-contradicting plans!
GET OUT!
Is exploding.
Will never fucking happen. Thank god.
Cutting the update here once again.
