What's this? Rapid-fire updates from Leavemywife? Who would have ever guessed that would happen!

Update Eighteen: Something About Women And Outlanders

Welcome back! Last time, on Mother, we went through a ruin full of monkeys and that's about it. I never thought that sentence would imply that the trip was boring, but there you go; today, we're going to visit a new town and snag something very awesome, so let's rock.

We teleported to Magicant from the Monkey Ruin last time. As Explosionface mentioned, this is a pretty convenient trip to come back and fight the Dragon; you should be around level 25 at this point, so you may as well, since he also holds the sixth melody. But, we did a touch of sequence breaking and already fought the Dragon, so we're free to just scoot and skedaddle on out of here.

Swimming Cat offers no further candy for weaklings, but he at least asks if it was good candy. Swimming Cat is a pretty cool dude.

Since it's been a while since I actually saved my game, I should do that real quick.

Sweet crap, we're rich! This is the 80's, too, so just imagine how much cocaine we can buy!

Champ will be leveling up soon, and I think my levels are just about the average levels you should be around, so the Easy Ring really doesn't change the experience of playing the game all that much; it makes the early game super-easy, yes, but at the end, it evens out, so that's pretty good.

Now that we're all saved up, let's roll out.

I lied, we're not leaving immediately. We're having some Butter first.

Okay, now we're good to go. We're all healed up, saved up, and the Dragon has already been defeated, so there's no reason for us to hang around Magicant.

Back into the same, boring cave near Thanksgiving.

Wait a minute...This isn't the same cave at all!

That's right, that trip to Magicant actually serves a purpose beyond being a convenient point to go fight the Dragon. It's required to continue the story, as it takes you to a location that is a massive pain in the ass to get to on foot (if it's at all possible).

As you can see from the map, we're very close to Easter. And Valentine isn't very far off, either, but we're going to Easter first, as it is closer and Merry said we should.

To the east of the cave, there's these train tracks, along with a lot of trees.

We're going to follow the tracks for a while.

Random encounters are back again; I didn't miss them at all.

That screenshot shows just about everything you need to know about the Arachnid!. They're just another caller-type of enemy, without much to say beyond that.

Bash your way through their 80 HP; PSI powers shouldn't be needed for these guys, unless you're feeling particularly hateful toward these guys.

Champ gains a level and takes another step toward not sucking.

Following the tracks will eventually lead us to this building, which is just a train station. We don't need to take a train anywhere out of here, so let's keep moving.

Southwest of the train station is where we're going now.

But, uh, not through these trees.

You can kind of see what looks like a wooden fence down there; that's a good sign, as this is the town of Easter and it's just what we were looking for.

Aww, they employ child greeters!

I guess they decided to forgo giving this child an education in light of them always having someone to stand by this fence and greet whoever enters.

I like the music for Easter. As for the town itself?

I'm not a fan of the town and I think you all can see why.

We don't carry any of that with us, kiddo. Sorry.

I'm sensing a common trend amongst these four children...

As I'm sure you've guessed by now, Easter has no adults around. There are only children here, but why? I'm sure we can all guess, but that doesn't make it any less creepy (at least, to me).

Sanctuary!

...Never mind. The church is empty, too.

Let's keep continuing exploring the town.

Why are there so many trees around?

It's okay, little one. We're going to help you out, somehow.

All of their parents have been kidnapped by aliens. Well, we're going to stop those aliens, so we'll get their parents back, too.

Easter is a fairly good sized town, which kind of helps to enhance the atmosphere of this place.

Coming from the mountains? I haven't seen any of those around lately...

It's too far away for you, but I'm sure that's where we'll be going next.

I kind of miss the town map from Earthbound. I've also been thinking about the advice Artic Cress posted, about how you shouldn't compare this game to Earthbound, and it holds up; this game may have come before Earthbound and links to it very nicely, but it is also its own game.

It's like comparing Final Fantasy games. You shouldn't do it, but someone is always going to and it's hard not to.

This house is important as hell. If you play this game, when you reach Easter, make sure that you hit this house.

It's because of this baby.

Thanks, Tom. I'll probably forget your name after posting this update, so good thing you've got yourself a hobby of introducing yourself.

Talking to the baby yields us this. What have we done with a lot of the other special things we've encountered?

I've kind of wondered what it'd be like to actually look into the mind of a baby; I always imagine it's just this world full of curiosity, love, and excitement at everything around it.

This baby, though, has one hell of a mature mind and has a fantastic power.

This is why I said this house was hella important; this baby teaches you how to teleport.

As you can see here. Teleportation works just as it did in Earthbound, so be sure to have enough running space.

Merry learned it, too, so if Leo is out of commission, you can still teleport to safety.

However, if Champ is left to his own devices, he'll just have to use the Onyx Hook to flee to safety.

Anyways, let's test out our new power.

We've got some adequate running room.

And, as the baby told us, we can return to any town/safe place we've been before.

You can also use the "run in circles" trick for teleportation, as you could in Earthbound; Leo also moves surprisingly fast. I'd guess it'd be twice as fast as his regular running speed, so it surprised the hell out of me when I first used it.

I actually thought I was going to fail this teleportation at first, but lo and behold!

Fuck trees, we're teleporting!

It's been a hell of a long time since Leo went home, so I decided to go there.

Nothing has really changed around here, but hey, it's good to be back.

Mom comments on how Leo is wounded, and immediately serves him up an artery-clogging meal. For the healing properties, you see.

Since we're here, let's save up and finish this update off.

I'm not sure what else I'm going to have to buy, but at least I have plenty of scratch to do it with.

And we're done here for today, folks. Next time, let's see if we can reach the town of Valentine. Stay tuned!
