Part 100: Ep. 69: Circling The Drain
---
: Last time on MySims Agents: Justice's security camera sends Special Agent Sam off in a different and not-all-that-unexpected direction!
---
Sam leaves the muba stand and heads down to the other end of the boardwalk, towards the phone booth.
Jerk.
: Even though this strange phone-in-a-booth seems ancient, I still might be able to extract some useful info if I can hack it. The only way to discover Yuki's "business call" is to hack the phone booth.
Right! Let's see if we can figure out who Yuki was calling. Nothing illegal about that. Right? Right.
Sam writes that down.
: The record from the phone booth show that Yuki placed an order for paint, but why?
Paint? Why paint? Yuki won't talk to us about it, either. A dispirited Sam is poking around the muba stand when his phone rings.
At least someone's having a good day--Sam, meanwhile, is running out of ideas. Maybe he missed something back at the scene of the crime...? He heads back to the west beach.
This time, he actually wades out into the shallows. Huh. What's this?
Whatever it is, it really infuriates him!
That is one seriously waterproof notebook Sam's got there.
: I'll send a scan of this inky substance to Roxie back in HQ.
Sam pulls out his phone, calls Roxie, and bwoop bwoop scan scan
: My analysis shows that substance you found in the water is a special type of aquatic lubricant.
Sam says goodbye to Roxie, hangs up, and updates his notes accordingly.
: Aquatic lubricant? Was there some kind of vehicle involved in this crime?
... huh. That's a good question. Maybe we ought to ask around. The lifeguard is on the east beach--she might well have seen something.
: Have you seen anything suspicious recently?
: Something suspicious? How do you mean?
: Anyone lurking in the water nearby that could have taken Justice's crab traps?
: No... but now that you mention it, I did see something strange the other day.
: Strange, how?
Strange indeed! Strange enough to make a note of it, just in case.
: Summer says she saw a strange ship out in the water. Could it be related to the missing cages?
Maybe Justice's crab traps were damaged by some kind of boat. The surfer dude probably goes way out there. Wonder if he saw anything?
: Hey, Luke, how are the waves today?
: Well, the swell is killer, but there's something up with the water near the buoys past Summer's lifeguard chair.
: What's up with the water?
: Glowing?!
: Totally! Killer, right? I must have really been shreddin'!
...
... OKAY FINE we'll go check out the radiation in the water since we're over here anyway
Sam returns to the east beach, where children are playing, unaware of the terrible danger. He pulls out his new Super Detector and wades into the water, and...
RADIATION! Like real radiation, this kind is hard to see. Glowing green circles bubble up from underneath the surface of the water--and just as quickly as they appear, they disappear again, washed away by the waves.
Sam chases the disappearing trail all over the place--around the buoy, next to the cliff wall, along the shore...
... and eventually he has enough of a mental image to realize that the trail leads away from this drain, here. Radiation is leaking into the water from the sewer system? Can we recruit a mutated turtle as a junior agent? Oh, wait, no, Sam is terrified of those.
There's even a broken crab trap over here by the drain!
What, indeed.
Sam leaves the beach and heads up this path. Hey, a fenergy vent!
Sam fires up the Manipulator and has started shifting boulders down the hill when:
Wolfah needs our help! Or reassurance--or encouragement--or something--anyway, Sam texts him back with a simple, encouraging "Yip!" There is never a need to question Wolfah.
And then Sam gets back to shifting boulders. Pulling down rocks to build this staircase also reveals a cave entrance hidden behind them! Gasp!
Sam climbs up the pile he just made--
--enters the cave--
--and finds a SECRET NUCLEAR-SUBMARINE DOCK oh my stars and garters.
---
: Next time on MySims Agents: ... why don't we have a submarine, pal?
: You know what, Buddy, that is a very good question.
