Part 72: Ep. 49: The Boudreaux Bequest
---

---
First things first: Sam is tired of these hair shenanigans. If Shirley can't fix his hair, he'll do it himself. He buys two boxes of black hair dye at the market and--

No one ever tells you these things until it's too late. Still, with the help of the other box and a couple of black markers from Jenny's desk, Sam manages to get things under control.

Lookin' sharp. Sam decides to check in with everybody before we go. Also, to figure out where Buddy put that new top hat, although it's possible that the hat is too swank for this party, or indeed any party.

Roxie sighs.

Evelyn's over by the bookshelves.

Buddy is... checking under the flags by the front door.

... we should just go.

woooooo

Buddy has a way of making a long trip even longer, but eventually we land in the bayou.

Sam and Buddy get out and look around...

... before heading up the foggy path to Cyrus Boudreaux's mansion, lost amidst the weeping willows.

We go inside. The foyer is dark and dusty, but maintains a shabby decorum.

A figure lurches towards us, one hand outstretched in greeting--

--or in an anticipatory hunger for our brains.

Scarecam!

Sam pulls out Poppy's invitation and hands it over. Carl opens the envelope and scans the invitation inside. Meanwhile, Buddy shakes in terror. Eventually Carl nods and puts the invitation away.

Pause.

With a huge sigh Carl sticks his arm back on.

And Carl lurches off, one arm stiffly out in front of him. Way to completely waste a potential 'walk this way' joke, EA.

As Sam and Buddy follow Carl into the room, they cannot help but overhear the conversations going on around them.

The black-haired girl by the piano sighs.

The black-haired girl sighs again.

Sam ponders these things he's overheard.

Silence falls. The group shifts uncomfortably, waiting. Finally, after one last dramatic sigh, the black-haired girl speaks up.

Someone speaks from the top of the stairs.

The camera pans up the stairs.

A shout rings out!

Sam presumably elbows Buddy in the ribs.

Zoe moves off down the landing, Carl in lurching tow, and lets herself into a room at the far end. Immediately:

Carl panics, rooted to the spot with fear. Nudging him aside Sam runs for the door and pushes into the crystal room.

No!
