Part 65: Paradise Regained

Leaving Violet and Daniel to their joyful reunion, Sam and his friends run to an open area.





And they wait.

: I guess he's late!

: Oh, that's okay, pal. Those crosswinds can be brutal.

Guillermo drops the scroll into Buddy's hands.



: 'It had lychee-flavored icing! Disgusting! I was very sad and confused, but then I heard about the amazing things you've been doing as Wandolier. That raised my spirits considerably! Well done! The Kingdom's in better shape than ever!'



aaargh

: 'I'm including new maps, but feel free to revisit the lands you've been to and see how everyone is doing! They may have new challenges for you!'

Buddy rolls up the scroll and puts it away.

: Neat! We can go see our old friends again!

So... yeah. Our prize for reaching Wandolier Level 4 is more work. Every single person in the world has a new task for us now, including people we haven't even met yet. I'm not going to lie to you: this stuff is mostly pointless. Something like three out of every four tasks is busywork, plain and simple, a quick way to add more content to the game.

Some of it is totally worth doing, though. I'll be covering everything in later updates. Anyway.

: And I want a look at those new maps!



Buddy gives Lyndsay the maps, and the mists clear away from The Uncharted Isle...



... The Royal Academy...



... and Trevor Island! That means we now have access to every island except that mysterious little one up in the left-hand corner!

: Wow! I don't know where to go first!

: Sam can decide when we're back at the boat. Thanks again, Guillermo!

We all wave goodbye as Guillermo takes off.

The duchess is back in front of her castle with the unsuspecting Poppy.

: Oh, hello, Daniel. Isn't it simply lovely out today?



Beverly sighs.

: She was very non-traditional, Daniel. I'm just looking out for you.

This answer does not make Daniel very happy.

: I can look out for myself now.

: Oh, I don't believe that's true, sweetie.





OBJECTION



Busted.

: Daniel, you found a way past Spencer and brought Violet down from the tower?!

: With the help of the Royal Wandolier, yes, Mother, I did.

The astounded duchess rounds on Sam.

: The Royal Wandolier?! You assisted Lord Daniel?

Sam steps right up and nods.





You tell her, Poppy!

: Oh, Poppy, I didn't mean...

: Maybe you should be less worried about tradition and more concerned with our happiness.

: Daniel, I...

Beverly stops and looks at all of us.





Beverly seems a bit ill at ease for some reason.

: ACK! Are you going to cast a spell on me?!

: What? No! I just wanted to give you these.



: I accept your apology. Can we just be friends now?

They're probably also the bouquet that Daniel gave her earlier, but under the circumstances, he probably won't mind.

: Hooray for flowers!!!

Violet turns to Sam, for the equally Ceremonial Giving Of Thanks To The Damn Wandolier Already.

: Thank you, Sam. We would have been in real trouble if you hadn't shown up.





Awww, he got a kiss.







Well, that seems to be that! You weirdos can sort everything else out on your own.



Sam heads for the boat and almost makes it.

: Sam!!!





Ah ha!



Ah ha!

: Around the kingdom there are ten unique flowers. No land has more than one of the flowers, but they're well hidden so check every nook and cranny!

or, you know, just check GameFAQs, whatever

: Anytime you find a rare flower, come show me and I'll give you something pretty! Okay?

Sam nods, accepting these, his latest burdens.



With that, night falls on Cutopia, and maybe now Sam can get some rest.
