Part 69: Heart of the Stone - recap
Game film: LP Heart of the Stone (TFL 1.5)
Welcome to the Hotel Tain. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. This (and the next mission) are about as overtly puzzle-ish as Myth gets; nothing that you're going to burn too many braincells over. Really, the combat situations of several of the missions qualify as harder puzzles than these. I hope I didn't overdo the "thinking out loud" shtick.
When playing this mission for the first (or second or third) time, you would not want to do as much in-game fast-forwarding as I do in this video. The spider ambushes are slightly randomized -- for example, often spiders will take out the fetch that teleports in between the first two pillars -- but there are a few guaranteed dead spots, so that's where I sped things up. If you try to use fast-forward elsewhere you will probably get arachnids all up in your business.
Spiders have some cool properties in multiplayer; they're terribly fragile, but they're fast as a zerk and hit hard. They can also zip up steep slopes like a forest giant, but unlike a forest giant they are low-profile and sometimes overlooked until it's too late to avoid them.
P.S. I'm starting to use those forumgoer names I collected. I will certainly mispronounce some of them so apologies up front.
P.P.S. I'm determined to keep any single video of this LP under 30 minutes, so I didn't have enough time for a blooper reel after this mission. Since I do have some blooper footage, I'm cutting it into a separate video, in a slightly different format than the usual bloopers.
