Part 234: Koromaru

Goddamn Hachiko is a playable character.

Koromaru

And his Persona, for the first time as not a late-game cool guy to get for free under certain conditions, Cerberus. Absurd agility, average everything else. Uses Fire and Dark magic. Nulls Fire and Dark but weak to Light. Is a dog.

Koromaru's a dedicated doggy. Besides Masukukaja and High Counter (he replaces Evil Touch with Masukukaja), his endgame skillset is dedicated entirely towards using Fire or Dark magic. Unlike the upcoming Light specialist, he gets the boost and multitarget spell, so the protagonist will have to use Die For Me! to be more reliable at Dark once Koromaru gets there. And Amped Maragidynes are what Junpei was missing from his fire magic. Hell, he gets to boosted dynes 5 levels before Akihiko and 7 before Mitsuru, learning Agidyne at a really low level 45.

But besides Masukukaja, arguably the least useful Ma-kaja, he can only use fire, dark, and his slash elemental regular attacks. Koromaru only knows two tricks. He's GOOD at those tricks, no mistake, but since Dark doesn't work against bosses it isn't as good as a trick as Mediarahan. So yeah, if you want a party member to cover Fire and Dark, so the protagonist can cover something else with his/her Personas, then go ahead. Koromaru isn't a bad dog, he's good at what he does. But do you need what he does?
