Part 51: 6/21/09

6/21/09

Yeah, feeling bad for Tanaka definitely made me sick. I had a terrible headache when I woke up, and it only got worse when I turned on his program.

Even worse I still bought it, because it was too good a deal to pass up. I got a bit cleaned up and headed downstairs, Fuuka was the only one in the lobby.

Hm? Don’t I go out?
Well, if there’s a computer around, I usually stay inside.
Why don’t you go ahead, Aelita? I’ll be fine by myself.

I just happened to find Yukari and Junpei at the shrine with some kid.

Nice to meet you. My name is Ken Amada.
Are you friends with Yukari-san and Junpei-san?
Yep, you got it.
She lives in the same dorm as me and Yuka-tan.
Really? I didn’t know boys and girls could live in the same dorm.
Umm, uhh, well… It’s like…
We’re exceptions! We’ve got good reasons for sticking close…

Ken seems like an okay kid.

Especially Yukari-san! Her advice is very useful.

I’m still not sure how they met him.

He’s a lot more reliable than Stupei.

Poor Junpei, if I’d known how bad a day he had a week ago I’d have let him slide on this one. More on that later.

Besides, I’m way more mature than Ken. Don’t you think?
Definitely not your brain.
S-Serious!?
Why you guys always gotta be harshin’ the tards…?

That guy with the striped shirt was also there sitting on a bench.

Your soul must be burning brightly.
> The young man must be intrigued by you because of your impressive Academics.
The me that I see reflected in your eyes and the real me—if there is such a thing… How far apart are they?
Almost zero.
Hmm…That works.
> The thin young man seems happy for some reason.
Your words are very beautiful. If I had something to write with, I’d write them down.
I have a fountain pen… It uses red ink—blood red.
My pen is my supporter, my spokesman, and my friend. However, it seems to have disappeared…
Without it, my screams are silenced.
> The young man seems sad.
> Apparently, his fountain pen is missing.

I’ll have to look around and see if I can find out anything about it. Anyway, there wasn’t much to do so I decided to stay busy and try to forget this stupid cold.

> You sweated it out by working part-time at the ticket counter and showing customers to their seats…
> You dealt with a mass of customers at the souvenir shop in a short amount of time prior to showtime…
> Your Academics has increased.
> You quietly scolded some kids that were acting rowdy during the movie…
> Your Courage has increased.
> Obtained 5000 yen for working part-time.

Oh, and there was sad news when I got back.

Narrator: Episode 18: Death of a Condor! Get your hankies ready, kids!
Newscaster: …And now, the news.

I think we’re all hoping to see more of Koromaru soon.

What kind of dog do you think would be good for Mitsuru-senpai?
Hmmm…
I can’t see her with a dog…
She’d probably have a Doberman.
And she’d feed it filet mignon…
Junpei-kun… I think you’ve been reading too much manga…

We’re probably not allowed to have a dog in the dorms, though.

I wish I was a dog, so I could get girls’ attention…
Don’t you think Akihiko-senpai would look good with a dog?
Not an unusual one, just an ordinary, playful dog…
Yeah, that’s true.
I could see them running on the beach together…

I’d ask Mitsuru, but she and Akihiko were out.

I was a bit bored, so I snuck up to the command room and messed with the broken console again. I didn’t manage to fix it, but I did shake loose another recording.

Yeah there’s nobody’s room this could have been but Junpei’s.

> It looks like Junpei’s room…
> …But its resident is nowhere to be found…
> Mitsuru and Officer Kurosawa came in…
This way, Officer.
By the time I realized the door was halfway open, his room was already in this state.
I’ve left the place untouched, as you requested.
……
…Whose room is this?
Junpei Iori. A junior.
I’ve been attempting to reach him on his cell phone, but he hasn’t responded in the last 30 minutes.
……
It was careless of me to let my guard down… This dorm has been attacked in the past…
Security is everyone’s concern, but if anything happens to him, it’s ultimately my responsibility…
…I hate to say it, Miss Kirijo, but this is most likely—

Junpei pretty much picked the worst possible time to return from what it looked like.

Wh-What the hell!? Kurosawa-san? What’s going on here!?
Iori!?
Where were you? I’ve been trying to contact you!
Huh? Oh, uh… it was hot, and the AC was busted, so I went to the manga café and fell asleep…
* sigh * Well… I’m just glad you’re safe.
But if it wasn’t an attack, then it must have been theft… Why would the burglar target this room…?
Theft!?
What else could it be? Someone clearly tore through the room looking for something.
Vandalizing a school dorm… When I find out who did this, I’ll see to it that he or she is executed.
…Well, son, sounds like you’ve got a death sentence.
How about it, Iori? Was this room, in fact, vandalized?
Uh… Heh heh… Well…
My room always looks like this…

He’s really lucky she was too shocked to do... whatever the hell it was she was threatening by ‘execution’.

B-But…
You can’t possibly live here in this state, can you!?
A-And… the door was open.
Oh, right… I wanted to air the place out while I was gone. No one we don’t know ever comes around, so…
……
I think this case is closed. May I return to my duties, Miss Kirijo?
Oh… yes…
I’m… sorry you had to see something so disgraceful…
……!
> Officer Kurosawa left…
I apologize for all this…
It seems my upbringing may have been more sheltered than I realized…
> Mitsuru left as well…
C’mon, at least yell at me or something!?
What’s the deal with you calling the police over a messy room, anyway!?
What did I do to deserve this!?
Hey, wait…
That fortune I drew on the way back… It was “Worst Luck”…

You know come to think of it Junpei was talking about having a problem with the police a week ago. I figured he was full of it but I guess not.

But it turned out to be a false alarm.

Let’s see, not much else happened. I went to see if Mutatsu had any news on his family, but the detective he hired hasn’t found them yet. It’s only been a couple of days, not a surprise.
