Part 29: The DLC I

This is very ho-hum. Doesn't even require rotating the matchstick or anything.










It's good to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't particularly like doing these types of puzzles.










This one's pretty straight forward, but it is possible to just think it's 12*5 and such.










The only one that needs the added path is B. Once you figure that much out, the answer becomes pretty obvious.








Okay, now this one. I do not like this one. I think this one is less fair than even the US version of #067. First, let's do something different and see what my first thought was when I tried this before I ever read the hint (this is more important than it sounds).



Makes sense, right? The knight can't slay the knight without drawing his own blood, and there would be a ton of vicious rumours about him if the riddle's wording was to be believed.




Okay, fair enough. I guess the "you" refers to both the puzzle solver as well as being generalised. In that case, there's one clear possibility especially after I read the hint.



I thought this was being clever.



...What. What. How does this work? These are both plausible and make more sense than this:








Wrong. Wrong! Wrong! First off, it's entirely possible to kill a mosquito before it ever even lands on you if you wanted to. Secondly, even if it did land on you there's no guarantee that it will drink your blood anyway, assuming it could. These two are kinda minor and only matter because the puzzle said it was impossible to avoid these things.

More importantly: mosquitos, as a general rule, do not actually drink your blood! The sole exception is females. For helping with their eggs. That is it. That is the only time it happens. Even then, that's not all species of mosquitos! They need it for protein, to help their eggs develop. Most mosquitos, and all males, eat from plants and need sugar (from nectar) for energy.

Incidentally, based on this logic, other species of animals work too. Horsefly, for example, is equally valid:

And with that, I'm done complaining about a Bad Puzzle.



I'm going to be honest, this is one of two puzzles this update I overthought massively. So, despite it being simple and easy I ended up not getting the right answer at first.






I'm kind of a dummy like that, because I thought this as the answer was too obvious and therefore wrong.

Egg-nigma is the US name for the puzzle (the puzzle itself is identical in both America and Europe). I editted that in, because I think for once it's the better one of the two.



1. There are places on a floor that the cylinder can't reach no matter how it's turned or tilted. Where do you think they could be? Pay special attention to the fact that there were four eggs.

It's also the other one this update I overthought far, far too much.





1. The river moves at the same speed for all objects floating upon it and affects both the hat and the gondola in the exact same way.





1. One week has seven days. The boy has to study two hours every day, so the answer must be 14 hours, right? Come on now, what kind of puzzle would this be if that was the answer? What you need to do is brainstorm ways the boy could beat the system. For example, would starting his daily studies at an odd hour benefit him at all?

Now, these two are ones I like since they're pretty fun maths problems.





1. Try choosing a face with a "one" on it, and then moving to neighbouring faces whie looking for the rest of the numbers one to six. Once you find the numbers, see if the shape you've made can be folded into a cube.





1. Look at all the options again and try to figure out what they have in common.

If I've learned anything about the DLC puzzles, it's that the US versions are kinda annoying to figure out because they're kind of obtuse.

Or maybe that's just me and this one is actually really easy and I'm a dummy for not getting it right away. Who knows!
