Shadow of Destiny

Part 30

Ending A, Epilogue

So! Hugo's been dragged off to hell.

Where does this leave Eike and Margarete?

The end-game conversation, played at the end of the game.

I guess seeing her brother dragged off to hell is less traumatizing than seeing him crushed under a building!

Well, at least this time he went peacefully.

Is... is Eike gonna tell her this time?

It's nice to see that women from the middle ages were so empowered to make their own decisions.

If you send her back to her own time, you just get ending B again... Eike, alone, drinking in a bar. Boo!

I don't think I've mentioned it before, but I love what they did with Homunculus's eyebrows in this game. They're the most expressive part of his face.

Whups, Eike butterfingers the handoff!

This is in slow-motion, so you know it's important.

Homunculus dives for it, but fumbles the catch...

Shit, it blew up!

That is some truly suspicious blood.

Jesus! What the fuck is your blood pressure?

This scene may not be suitable for women and children.

Alright, now the level of bloodloss is just comical. Homunculus wasn't kidding when he said he was fragile.

Yes, destiny! Not Deus ex Machina at all!

Although I suppose it's more plausible to pass someone's sudden death off as destiny when the entire game's been all about fate.

Anyway, flash forwards!

So he did tell her. About time.

Hey, what happened to the Eike statue? That statue was awesome, it made all of my screenshots of the final showdowns better.

It wasn't, for the record. Homunculus died at the other end of the square.

Makes as much sense as anything. It sure wasn't the time-lines resetting, or there'd be other changes, too.

Fuck!

Anyway, roll credits.

This is the best of the normal endings--Eike saves Miriam, gets revenge on Homunculus, and scores a really, really hot girlfriend.

Of course, Helena still walks the earth, her last request to Eike having gone unfulfilled. Hugo got sucked into hell. The Eckarts lived twenty years of sorrow, and you'd have thought time travel would have been able to help with that a bit. And Homunculus isn't actually dead dead, he's just back in Philosopher's Stone form. It's a pity that even in the best case scenerio, so much has to stay unsolved.

Poor Hugo! He was just a confused idiot kid, and there' canonical evidence that a good talk from an authority figure would have straightened him out. See endings E and B2!

That's all five endings, anyway. Checking the extras screen shows we didn't miss any.

Wait! Extra? That wasn't there before! I should investigate by starting a new game! And posting a few shots from it as a teaser!

After the initial from Hugo...
