Part 66: The lab visits Faris NyanNyan's home

But now, Mayuri and Daru both know her? Does that mean something about Moeka got reconstructed in the past again?
And judging by the timing, I can't think of any cause other than Rukako's D-mail, but Rukako's D-mail was to tell his mother to eat a lot of vegetables. How can that D-mail be related to whether or not the lab mems know about Moeka? Is this also the Butterfly Effect? The cause doesn't match with the effect at all.

That's true. I have to think carefully about Moeka's case later. With that aside, we start searching for the address written on the memo pad.

"Quit your escapism, Daru. Faris NyanNyan is, after all, a professional name."

You're grumbling. You can't handle it, huh.
"So, how about it, Mayuri? You don't know?"

"It's not like you took a vow of secrecy, right? And besides, since we're going to her house, we'll find out soon enough."

I nod.

"Akiha... huh."
An appropriate name for an Akiban.

"It's a... super high class apartment...?"

While you're out, can you buy me a fork? Because I want my fork. And some cup noodles for dinner, too. There was something like 'Gen-chan Ramen'. That.

My assistant really loves her cup noodles, huh. I'm gonna call you Koike.
Furthermore, from Faris's call earlier, it looks like she lives on the top floor...
"Did we get the wrong address...?"
No, I'm incapable of such a basic mistake.
"Don't tell me Faris is under The Organization's control?!"
I quickly survey my surroundings. There are no suspicious figures in visible range.
"Does she have suspicious black suits under her command, planning to lure us into their web and haul us away?!"

"Nice delusion yourself."

When we call up the room on the top floor via intercom, an elderly man's voice answers. Surprisingly, he quickly lets us in once I call myself Hououin Kyouma. It feels more and more like a trap, but I can't turn back now.

A silver-haired gentleman in a tuxedo.

Just as Mayuri said, he indeed looks like a stereotypical butler, so much that he couldn't be anything but a butler.

The butler calls into the room. In front of a large window, Faris stands with a panoramic backdrop of Akiba.

I haven't seen her wearing anything other than her usual maid uniform, so it's refreshing to see her in plain clothes. But why does she equip her cat ears even in her personal time? I wanna ask. I can't help but question it, but I restrain myself. If I did ask, Faris would just seriously answer "Faris had cat ears ever since she was born nya."

Faris's eyes twinkle when she sees Mayuri and Daru behind me.

I silence the heavy-breathing Daru by introducing my elbow to his ribs.
"Mayuri and Daru just followed me. If they're a bother, I'll send them home."

"Gonna play dumb, huh? Akiha Rumiho."

It's annoying, so I'll just drop it.
"But just what's with your home? How do you live in a super high-class apartment in Akiba's best district?"
I look around the room again. The interior design and furnishings give a very refined impression. It doesn't reek of a celebrity atmosphere. Rather, it seems more like a model home. There's not a trace of daily living. Probably because that butler, and possibly some real maids - if there's a butler, there has to be maids - always clean up.
Speaking of the butler, he vanished before I noticed it. He's a model butler if he can depart without a sound.
"Faris... just who are you?"

Faris says so nonchalantly.
"Don't play dumb. If you don't explain yourself, I'm leaving!"

"Haah?"
What did she just say...? 'This land was originally for my house'?

Mayuri's words take me by surprise.

Faris nods with a slightly boastful face. So that means she's living in such a high-class apartment since she's a super celebrity rich girl.

Faris sways her slender waist, making a motion like a cat washing its face.

So basically, the current chaotic changes in Akiba were all made to this catgirl's liking?
