Welcome to Avalon, and a tale of (Super) ghouls and ghosts. Fair queen Guinevere has been kidnapped by the demon king Sardius, and it is up to us to defeat him and bring her back!
Super Ghouls n' Ghosts is a SNES platformer released in 1991 by Capcom, as a sequel to the NES-game Ghosts and Goblins. It's original title was Chō Makaimura (Super Demon World Village), but the only real difference between the Japanese and the American version is censorship of certain names and items (such as christian crosses).
You play as King Arthur, who comes armed to the teeth with various weapons like lances, knives and torches, although he can only carry one weapon at a time. If he's lucky enough to find the coveted gold armor he can use each weapon to cast powerful magic spells.
But that stuff is just filler. What you really need to know about this game is that it's on many a persons top ten list of 'Hardest game of all time'. And we're playing on the hardest difficulty, baby!
I have already done and recorded a complete run, but if you want me to replay the stages 'live' without using save-states between levels then I shall do so. I hope to rope in some amusing individuals to do the commentary regardless.
