Holy shit, another secret thing I never knew about. That dungeon, man, did they just mean to take it out but accidentally left that little tiny hidden switch in for someone as crazy as you to find?

It's an easter egg. One that happens to contain a one-shot-one-kill weapon in it. It's definitely not meant for people to find easily, but they left it in on purpose.

I'm not exactly sure which direction this is, since we still don't have our compass back, but the trail we want takes us past the standing stones.

The trail takes us to the cave. Talking to Tydus is supposed to make these rocks disappear, but Ultima IX is a shitty fucking game and that didn't happen! So instead I had to use a flying cheat to get past the rock.

Stepping into the cave triggers a cutscene.

Fun fact: Fighting two bandits while embedded halfway inside a wall is almost impossible.

Duncan's Dagger is on the floor of the cave.

On the floor of the cave is also a bedroll. We use it to recover from being nearly beaten to death. We cry ourselves to sleep.

We can't go back the way we came without cheating again, so our only choice is to go down.

Clicking on a torch on the wall retracts some wooden pikes into the ground, letting us pass.

There's a broken up shipwreck sitting in this bay at the end of the tunnel.

A chest on the deck of the ship contains the Arms of the Magi. They're our third piece of magical armor, and also reduce the casting cost of magical spells.

Our next stop is to return Duncan's dagger.

: It is my pleasure to return your dagger, Duncan.
: To repay you for returning my dagger, I'd like to teach you another two handed sword maneuver.
: Thank you, I'd like that.

Duncan teaches us the Spin Shot.

Now we return to Moonglow to confront Tydus.

: No, instead I found thieves, jerkass!
: I apologize for your fruitless venture, Avatar.
: Yeah, I fucking bet you do.
: Perhaps it resides in a second cave, one to the north that boasts a ruby embedded on a pedestal at its entrance.
: Only when you find the staff, will I allow you to enter the Lycaeum.
: Son of a bitch.
