Update 17 - Combat: Food Talk, Femme Fatales, and Shipping Material; We've Got it All

Music - Briefing

Alright, it's time for Team Santa to deliver some holiday cheer (ragnite explosions). This map isn't very hard, but it's at least more notable than the last one.

As you can see, they're sending some real heavy hitters our way this time around. There's more than a few fencers here, and without one of my own, they'll be a bit tough.

But we've got this, especially with our newly upgraded Rudolf.

Player Turn Music: Liberation Battle

Enemy Turn Music: Return Battle

: "Alright, kids, let's get 'er done!"

Rudolf's glowing nose (lamp) negates the effect of nighttime, which means we'll be able to surprise each of these rebels with a present (explosive/bullet).

After running over people and sandbags a few times to clear out the place for my personnel units, I give the enemy ace, Ty, a showing of Rudolf's new gift launcher (AT cannon).

You'll note that the accuracy is completely ridiculous, being better than even any of our scout's rifles, with a personnel damage of nearly 400. Not to mention 1200 Armor damage.

No, I have no idea why it's so amazing, it just is. Just wait until we get our second upgrade, and you'll see how truly broken this cannon is.

: "N-no, I don't miss it!"

She definitely misses it, otherwise she wouldn't recieve such a good buff for it.

I may not have covered it yet, but country Bred is an accuracy + damage up potential, just like Close Combat. She also has that. She also has Super Vs. Personnel.

What I'm trying to say is that Anisette is a walking bundle of power boosting potentials, and she tops as mechanically the best shocktrooper in my opinion. That being said, she's a terrible pick for a Gunner as all of her skills only happen on your turn.

Assume that anyone she points a gun at will likely not survive.

: "From the top, with feeling!"

This guy went down in less than a third of a second. The first shot was a headshot that dealt 150+ damage.

Super Vs. Personnel is ridiculous, and so is Anisette.

Alright you two jokers, it's time for you to actually do something.

Hey, look who's hiding right next to our drop in point?

Present delivered.

...Though I suppose there's a few bullet points left on the list too.

: "Yes!"

Yep, crossed 'em off the list. They've been delivered as well.

Randy goes ahead and scouts out the remaining opposition with his higher AP. This is all I take sight of before I retreat back to the grass.

Well, let's see what they get up to.

Ow. This scout's inaccuracy plus the hunched stance of the shocktrooper got Anisette headshotted twice. Yeah I left her out in the open, but she's fine though.

Good work, dude! You made my job easier!

Suddenly, a shocktrooper emerges from the silo.

But instead of going for Anisette he just runs past and gets mauled by Rudolf.

I told you I'm not very worried.

Why do you people have an obsession with huffing grass? You're in every patch of grass I don't check. Always. It's practically a rule of the universe at this point.

Nope, still not worried.

Whiffs right past her face. Yes, that might've got her killed, but you can always trust enemy lancers to not hit when you think they will. Their accuracy is so bad, they're practically hyped on caffeine and candy at all times.

Oh, and shooting this guy doesn't do much. Prone lancers are very hard to kill, which is why it's better to throw a present their way first.

...Or he could try and get around my tank... taking the path right past Rudolf within sightlines?

You goofs realize there is a path behind the house right? It leads right there and is completely out of my tank's sight line.

Wow, look at all those x's on the map. Letting the enemy fail by their own actions is fun. This game's AI might be devious sometimes, but most of the time it's pretty dumb. They just offset that by giving them a lot of powerful units.

As you can tell, it doesn't really help them all that much. The enemy is explicitly more aggressive if you leave someone out in the open, even if there's machine guns trained in behind that person- that's exactly what happened here.

It pays to take risks sometimes, y'know?

: "Let me at 'em!"

: "Let me at 'em!"

: "Let me at 'em!"

Avan, cool it, dude! I'm sending you towards the enemy, okay?

Sheesh.

Because Avan was that hyped for combat, I saved a present by pointing him in the direction of this naughty leader. We're out of coal, so we're handing out lead and brass.

Yep.

: "I've got your back!"

This is Avan's generic line. He says this for everyone who isn't Zeri, Cosette, or Lavinia if their story hasn't been finished. He in fact, has lines for every student and they each have one for him.

You can't claim the game wasn't given effort.

: "Enemy sighted!"

*Quietly pops into the universe*

Allied Radio: Don't run ahead of the pack- support each other.

What do you think this is Fire Emblem? I've got bases to capture, I haven't got time for supports!

Yeah this was free. Nobody was even standing here.

: "See? The answers arrive by themselves."

Mischlitt tries to be credit to team by triggering genius, but it won't be enough.

: "There are walls we cannot break."

She gets poetic with a coincidentally appropriate line while I try to get behind this dude to see if attacking from the rear would get me the kill.

I get tired of dancing around him as there's only a small range of movement before they turn to face you, and Mischlitt runs out of AP. I slap him in the face instead.

I do it again and it works this time.

Probably hard to see is the scout just in front of her. You know what's going to happen.

But you thought wrong. This early in the game, AT's lose their deadly effectiveness. It's why she needs to go Fencer before this month is over.

...That's a bit underwhelming, but sure, whatever. You're not taking that much damage anyways.

To end the round I send Anisette to capture the first base now that she's done gunning people down.

Oh, hey there.

He ends his turn without firing at anyone...?

I find enemy mortarers are really passive.

...I, uh... why? That's it?

The AI's gone braindead on me, I suppose.

Avan takes out a dude.

...Well he would've if I didn't quickly go for a headshot and whiffed every shot. Nice.

Whatever, I'm at the end od the mission anyways.

*bap*

Oh, wait, that links to the base Anisette took. Also, the mission isn't over yet, so it means it's time for hide and seek.

Nobody here, so I capped this last base.

: "I feel stronger!"

Okay, yeah, you're promoting to Lancer Veteran. There's no question about that now.

Nobody in the grass.

Nope.

Wait, really?

DAMMIT

CONSARNIT

RARGHRAHG-

-Oh, hey, it's over! That's nice!

ARGHGHRHG-

Meh.

Yeah, okay.

Welp, see you next time after I re-do this mission! Maybe something interesting will happen.

...Yeah, probably not. Anyways, we've probably got character missions coming up since that was the last normal mission for the month.
