Part 23: It's always sunny in Sunnyglade

It's always sunny in Sunnyglade

Finally, some human slaying action.

You'll note that I left in the map you see as the game begins. This is because... where the hell are we!?

Here was our previous progression map. It doesn't make too much sense, but it's not completely foreign. We had some detours for killing Griselda, and the trip over to Red Ridge Mountains may be a little exaggerated. All-in-all, though, it makes sense.

Here's our new journey, however.

We detour right over next to Grand Hamlet, if the CGI map is to be believed. However, this isn't Moonbrook we're attacking, as that comes later in the game. Sunnyglade isn't on the map at all, which gives merit to the question, "Where the hell are we!?"

As mentioned earlier in this thread, Sunnyglade is most likely Raven Hill: the destroyed village that lies east of Darkshire. However, the only reason that this speculation is peculiar is that there is a lack of a tower that the orcs didn't destroy in the First War. Now obviously, sometime later it may have been, but still the map layout doesn't match-up in the same way that it did the other areas. Also, if the orcs didn't want to destroy the tower, why would the humans?

However, that is our best guess. That doesn't mean that I won't offer some handy alternatives.

Alternative 1: Westfall

It's close to the area marked on the map, and is "somewhat" similar to to the layout of the map. The tower at Sentinel Hill would be the remains of the tower left by the orcs. Also, it's actually sunny there. Again, this theory has holes in it.

There's a nice ocean nearby, which we don't really see the effects of on the map. Also, Westfall was never set up to be a military base, or a training camp for wizards, but an agricultural hub. Finally, Westfall never fell to outsiders, but rather the Defias who took control of the area.

Alternative B: Tower of Azora

Surprise, surprise! What if the humans never rebuilt the town? Okay, canonically, they did. The Tower of Azora matches up pretty damn well with the map, and would account for the left over tower.

Unfortunately, here come the holes. Mostly the proximity to Goldshire and Moonbrook, which get attacked later. The town could have received so much assistance from Goldshire or Stormwind and could have repelled the orcs.

Oh, hell, at this point, I don't even know what I'm talking about. Chances are pretty good that Raven Hill was indeed Sunnyglade. Let's look at a For and Against:

Westfall
For:
* Has a tower.
* If you turned the map, the battle map and area match-up.

Against:
* Close to nearby sea, not shown in map.
* Never fell to orcs, only Defias.
* Close enough to Moonbrook to make assault foolish.

Tower of Azora
For:
* Is actually a tower.
* Matches up nearly perfect with the game map.

Against:
* Again, close enough to make an assault rather silly. Although orcs are not known for shrewd tactics.
* The human campaign canon has Sunnyglade being rebuilt and chasing the orcs away. No town around the tower.

Raven Hill
For:
* Town was rebuilt.
* Raven Hill is closest to matching the CGI map.

Against:
* No tower.

Yeah, okay, it's probably Raven Hill, but I love pointing out all the intricate little lore holes every now and then.

There was a severe lack of drawings in this Lore update. Enjoy this 5 second drawing.
