Part 53: .hack Quarantine - //Update 13 - Ryu Book Review

//Update 13

Hello again, we're back with more postgame crap.

In every root town in the game, NPCs have shown up next to the chaos gates.

57 items sounds like a pretty good start on the item collection, right?

Oh. We're 7% done with the item list.

Every type of consumable item is represented, including the stuff you can only get from breaking pots.

Thankfully you can just buy every one of the spells on the list.

The dungeon treasures are slightly more tricky to get because you're not likely to have any on you when the collection event unlocks.

Somehow I didn't have any Mandragora on hand. How in the fuck?

Finally, at least one of each of the first 12 virus cores in the alphabet.

Here's the part of item collecting that will make you want to kill yourself. The vast majority of the list is every weapon and armor in the game. The only things not counted are rare weapons and armor, and stat increases.

So mercifully you don't need to collect Golden/Silver Grunties, Spiritas, Lore Books, and so on.

I'll do a much more informative coverage on the item list in another update.

Here's how things look as far as completion goes by the only metric the game will give you: the Ryu books.

You need 60 hours on the clock to get the last reward from book 1.

I believe it's 1700 magic portals, 55 all field portals, and 75 all dungeon portals.

You need 1 trade with every NPC in the game, including party members. You also need an uncertain number of trades completed. This is honestly one of the easier ones to complete.

This is going to be one of the last Ryu books we finish filling out. You need to kill specific monsters from the bonus dungeon to complete it, two of which are on the final floor.

We are nowhere near ready for that bonus dungeon yet.

We've been maxed out on total gift amount for Quarantine since probably Infection.

Everyone's affection needs to be maxed out at 1000.

I believe you need 1500 treasure boxes opened, 1400 boxes broken, and 85 Gott Statue boxes opened.

You need 50-some visits to each of these assholes. Also I believe 130 symbols activated.

I don't remember how many total grunty food you need collected, but it's somewhere north of 200. You also need to raise 1 of every grunty, which is actually pretty easy to do, just time consuming.

Finally, a look at our four new party members. Helba is going to be the only one we ever get any use out of.

Sora is also notoriously difficult to raise affection with. Normally I just shove a dozen or so Nightcalls into someone's inventory and it works, but Sora only ever gets a 20 affection gain from anything. At 10,000GP per Nightcall, it takes 500,000GP to max out Sora's affection. That number is a little less than half of the total amount of gifts we've given for the entire series up to this point.

Video:

Elk is waiting for us when we first log into Ω Server after getting Aura's e-mail.

: I also got an e-mail... from Aura. Can I go to Ω Hidden Darkside Holy Ground with you?

: Yeah! Let's go!

That ain't gonna be happening anytime soon. We're in update 13 currently. We'll tackle the bonus dungeon in !!update 16!!

Drain Heart, as I explained a couple updates back, is just a multi-target rare item drain. We'll never use it.

Now to close out the update, a montage of raising grunties and the information the wiki gives on what to feed them. Each picture of the grunty in question will link to their wiki page.

As far as I know, the stats are purely cosmetic and merely govern what the grunty baby turns into.
