War in the East

by Grey Hunter

Part 86

The Russians seem to be pulling back in the north, but they still have a strong contingent holding Cherepovets.

I'm getting skittish in the north, while the Russians would fold easily, I don't want them running before I can encircle the whole army, so for now, I'm playing it coy, and letting the troops rest up.

I do move a load of Panzers into the area.

The same rule applies here, where I think the Russians may be conducting a general withdrawal.

I do eliminate the trapped troops however.

I mean, it would be rude not to.

I move more troops across the river, but make no more aggressive moves. This will allow my men to rest, replace their losses and again, will not spook the Russians.

Further along the line, I make a minor offensive.

But a little further east, I start to get thin.

Really thin, but so a the Ruski's

Its only when you get to the Caspian Sea that you see any real concentrations once more.

The Russians in the mountains continue to plague me.

The last unit on the other side of the mountains surrenders though.

They make a couple of attacks on our eastern units, but nothing that will change the war.

Even after Recon, there seems to be many holes appearing in the Russian line. I may well go for it next turn, but I still know that there is poor weather ahead.

Only the large number of surrounded Russians keeps my kill rate up this week.

There numbers creep towards 5.5 Million men. Ours have finally gotten above three million. We are still 400,000 men in the hole, so the recent arrival of Luftwaffe divisions may well have caused this.

We're not going to get fat with these replacement rates, that’s for sure.

We at least have a decent number of bullets to fire at the never ending stream of Russians.

Now all I have to decide is when to push on Moscow.
