How Your Final Award is Scored

Think of each medal you get in a chapter as having a score; Pure Platinum is worth 6, Platinum is 5, Gold is 4, Silver is 3, Bronze is 2, and Stone is 1. Verses that are skipped are counted as a 0. The basic idea in determining what award you get is to get the average of these medals and to round to the closest whole number.

Let's start with an easy one:

Add together all the medals: 4 + 4 + 4 = 12
Divide by the number of verses: 12 / 3 = 4
4 = Gold Award

Let's try something more difficult:

Total score for all the medals: 5 + 5 + 4 + 4 + 0 + 4 + 4 + 6 + 6 + 4 = 41
Divided by the total number of verses: 41 / 10 = 4.1
Round down to the nearest whole number: 4

We can see here that we should have a Gold award, so what's Luka doing there? This is where the Used Items category comes in. Any items (lollipops or Red Hot Shots, not Angel Flutes) will count towards a death, which will bring down your Award by one whole rank. This explains why we have a Silver instead of a Gold. It also explains why the death screen only shows up to five deaths, as after that, you're just going to get a Stone award anyway.

One thing to note about the Used Items, if you have less than half of a death total, it doesn't count towards lowering your award, as seen here:

4 + 4 + 6 + 6 + 4 = 24 / 8 = 3 = Silver Award

If you've got over half a death, it'll round it up to a full death and lower your Award:

4 + 4 + 6 + 5 + 6 + 5 = 30 / 10 = 3 = Silver Award (but actually a Bronze due to Items)

And that's it! It's been good fun, I hope I didn't miss anyone in my thankyou.
