Post 59: In which things become bad, and then they become bad in an entirely different way.

Hey, it's Grindton! And a swirling vortex... we'll check that out some other time, I suppose.
How many people currently occupy the city, Master Link?
If memory serves me, it was 23 at last count. But we'll need at least 35, I think.
Where will we find that many people?
More importantly, how are we going to get that many of the right kind of people?

I'll have to go back unless I can find a good place to hide!
Let me tell you of a land not far from here, just southeast of Fishbel on the island of Estard, where a man can hide his days away, and the roads are paved with secrecy. It's name is Grindton, and there's an unmarked home waiting for you.
I could hide easily there! New towns attrace lots of people. Thanks. I owe you one. My name is Robbe.
That's 24.

world to enjoy. I've been looking for someplace suitable, but this place doesn't seem appropriate, either.
There's a town named Grindton, southeast of the island of Estard. It could use a nice amusement park.
A new town? I've got to see this place with my own eyes! My name is Ricks, by the way. Thanks for the information!
Bringing us to 25.

Is there anyplace I can start my life all over? I'm not picky.
Go to Grindton, southeast of Estard isle. You'll find that the roads are paved with acceptance, and everyone is given a second chance, no matter how ridiculous their story is.
A remote town that's accepting immigrants? Perhaps popularity's cold, desparate touch has yet to escape me. Thanks!
26.

But it's not easy to meet new people. Can you help me?
I know of a place, southeast of Estard isle, that consists almost entirely of new people. It's name is Grindton, and you are welcome to it's many... pavements.
Are people with all kinds of backgrounds there? Maybe I should go! Oh, my name is Yamur, by the way. See you!
I believe that's 27.

Moo, mooooo. Moo, moo!
... Gabo, do you know any Cow?
Moo, moo moo nmoo.
Moo! Mooo.... Mooo!
...What?
That's the legendary Swimming Cow - it's going to Grindton.
Let's... let's just call that 28 and be on our way.

Ouch! There I go again! That's the third time today I've fallen flat on my face. It's the lousy terrain here. My feet just can't seem to get used to it.
I know of a town where the streets are almost perfectly flat, and the roads are paved with comfy cushions. It's southeast of Estard Isle, and it's name is Grindton.
If I go there, I might keep from stumbling all the time. I'm Uruca, a merchant. It seems that this time I stumbled into someone who could help!
That's what... 29? Just a few more to go.

It's discouraging there are so few sexy men in this town. So you know anyplace filled with my type of guy?
Let me tell you of Grindton, where there are men of every kind - mostly rich merchants, some as handsome as the day is long, and the streets are paved with Puff-Puff parlors for you to work at.
I didn't know about that place! I can't think of anyplace else, so I guess I'll give it a try!
Bringing the total to 30, I believe.

out of my store! It's so frustrating, I just want to curl into a ball and sob in defeat. Sigh... Maybe I should just move to a new town and start over.
Let me tell you of a town where the roads are paved with gold, and commerce goes on every day and every night - it's name is Grindton, and it's southeast of Estard.
Your words are enough to make me weep with joy! I'll try setting up shop in that town. My name is Tasin. You have my eternal gratitude!
31! We're nearly there!
I think we can relax the entry requirements now and let in people of, shall we say...
High moral fiber?
...yeah.

as a warrior. However, I long for recognition. I'm looking for a place where someone will pay me well for my skills. Any ideas?
Wow! I get to use the truth this time... weird. Let me tell you of a place that consists entirely of merchants and rogues who wish to rob them - no other security of any kind. It's name is Grindton and it's a little bit southeast of Estard.
The day has come for me to fill my purse with gold for the blood I spill.
That's 32.
This is taking too long...
Can I try the next one?
What the hell. Okay!

HEY! GO TO GRINDTON! IT'S SOUTHEAST OF ESTARD ISLE!
Why are you telling me about a new town? Are you trying to say I shouldn't ever go home again? Well, all right. I don't know who you are, but I guess I'll do what you say. So I guess I'm going to a new town to live. Goodbye, Mother! Sniff...
Well done, Gabo!
Thanks! That's 33. Let's try and finish this.

Gard's brains weren't meant to be bombarded with damn arguments day in and day out, damn it! I just can't damn stand it! Don't you know of anyplace quiet, damn it?
Let me tell you of a place of bustling industry and commerce, but they put in those highway noise reducers that keep things pretty quiet. That place is Grindton, and it's southeast of Estard.
A new town? Damn, Gard will go there, then!
34! I think we just need one more person!

here. But all my bandits mutinied against me. I feel so betrayed. Maybe I should walk the straight and narrow from now on.
Is this one a good idea?
Trust me - I've got a brilliant plan.
What are you guys whispering about?
Let me tell you of a land where the roads are paved with opportunity and a man can engage in any trade he chooses. That place is Grindton, and it's a little southeast of Estard Isle.
A new town, ripe for the plucking? I could amass a new clan there! Every town needs organized crime.
We have 35 people, but at what cost?
Really - you should trust me. I have a plan.

wonderful town! All the immigrants cooperated to make this town what it is today. If different people had immigrated here, the town could have ended up quite differently.
I agree. Let's adjust some things, shall we?
But how?
Let me tell you of a place that's not too far from here, but impossible to reach for us. It is a town that is quite like Grindton, but was settled by another guy. It's name is Septville, and I happen to have met it's prime settler, Septus over the past six months on a fishing trip. Let me talk to him for a moment.
Howdy, Link. Want to set up the exchange?
Yeah - we have some people that don't want to be here. When can we do this?
Aira... he's talking to himself...
Master Link, are you okay?
EXCHANGE HAAAAAAAA! FORM OF - GRAND SLUM!

paradise for scoundrels!
What?
Why is this place now a desert?
Is that a casino?

it will cost you 5 gold. Do you intend to pay?
Off course!
(Murrell) Heh heh. Fool.
Same job, different location, for Pokke the peddler. For the most part, I'm glad I moved here from Rexwood. I've accepted that life is easier if you just don't set lofty goals or try to succeed.

the Unconscionable. In addition to our game selection, we feater live dancers and fortune telling! Enjoy yourself to your heart's content!

HOLY CRAP! That's some good stuff!
Is... is that lingerie?
That's the Legendary Dream Camisole! I've only heard rumors of it's existance before now, but it's stunning!
Ouch! It's literally stunning me!
That's because it can stun people if used. Not that great of an armor, though, especially in comparison to the MetlKing armor right over there. It has incredible defense and reduces incoming breath weapon damage. And that WreckWhip is one of the best weapons we'll find for a while.
What's the StarryRing do?
Oh, that? It just doubles your speed or something, I think. Now shut up - I'm trying to play lucky panel.

Some time later...

Master Link, this town is a den of iniquity and I must insist that we leave!
I have a better idea... now that I have all of the stuff I wanted, I'll just have the town changed. Ready, Septus?
Gate online!
EXCHANGE HAAAAA! FORM OF- FINAL BAZAAR!
OH GOD IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN!

over the world. You'll find shops selling all kinds of exotic things.
This place seems much less evil.
Welcome! I'm Harus, formerly of Septville. With this town's lax governance over business practices, I've managed to force many small stores to close down. It's a paradise for corrupt profiteers! Ha ha ha!
I stand corrected.
Well, too bad! I'm not going to change it again.

Hey! New MetalKing stuff! As you likely know, these swords are really good - way better than the Bow Gun which is ostensibly the same price.

Oh! And that's the set - the MetlKing Shield! Great shield defense, and further breath damage reduction as well. But that's basically all we'll need to see in Grindton for some time.
