Dragoons are one more of the game's various physical classes, slightly faster than Knights, but with lower Strength and Vitality, and equipping spears instead of swords. Their Jump command is also one of the best unique commands in the game, removing the Dragoon from battle for a round and then dropping them on an enemy for increased damage (from 1.5x to 2.4x, depending on job level), and doing double damage to anything weak to Wind (most flying enemies). Their physical attacks stay competitive, too, so it's not like you have to jump all the time to get anything out of a Dragoon, and spears are pretty well supported until the endgame, so they won't run out of weapons.

The Dragoon's stats aren't really remarkable, except for their low Vitality (for a physical class), but heavy armour and being out of combat a lot makes up for some of that - a big hit is still a hazard here, though. One interesting thing is that their Agility was dropped down from the NES version pretty sharply: it capped at 98 there, but only 71 here. I don't know why, since it seems like this class was meant to be fast. Other than that, just a decent class with a really nice command that you can comfortably take to the last boss.
