Part 164: Episode 1: Just me and my Shadow (clone jutsu)

Episode 1: Just me and my Shadow (clone jutsu)

Our darling protagonist finds his first corpse buddy being assaulted by some of run-of-the-mill goblins

Luckily he's come prepared today. Ninja is one of FFV's top punch-man classes! As you can see, the job has a fairly limited pool of useable equipment, only able to equip Knives and Shortswords, but have no fear! Ninja is loaded down with some neat gimmicks and tricks that make him an amazing fighter on his own

Here's our first trick now.

These are actually seperate attacks! Ninja has built in dual wielding, attacking once for each weapon he has equipped.

If you have no weapons, as we're stuck with now, each unarmed hand counts as a separate weapon.

Lazy ninja, first girl he meets has pink hair. Time is a flat circle.

Boruto keeps his allies alive just long enough to pick their pockets for some armor and weapons.

To steal from Pirates, a ninja must be extra kunaiving

We make it to the wind shrine with no stops along the way. A ninja is fast and focused.

Once we get their we can loot our new tag along cadaver, Faris, for a Dagger, which is a solid upgrade from the knife we pilfered from Lenna.

Boruto's equipment heading into our first real stretch of fights.

I get extremely lucky in the Wind Shrine and the only thing I face are three White Snakes, which get attacked down like so:

48 an the Dagger attack, 23 on the knife. This is how quite a bit of the early game will go for Boruto. A Ninja's agility is such that he will fill his ATB gauge before an enemy gets to attack, and cut them down in a Dual Wield attack.

Ninja Rule #3: Strike First, Strike Often

STEALTH IS A NINJA'S GREATEST ALLY

Facing Wing Raptor gives me a chance to show off Boruto's second Ninja Art: !Throw

Here I use the broadsword Boruto came equipped with and take off ~200 damage.

Throw lets you hurl unequipped weapons and special items at the enemy for a big chunk of damage. It ignores rows, scales with weapon power AND gives me something to do with all these weapons I'll be picking up along the way. For you more calculating junior ninjas, here are the hard numbers:

code:

THROW
Damage = (Weapon Throw Damage + (0..(Weapon Throw Damage/8)))*2
Damage = Damage - Defense
Damage = Damage * M
M = (Strength*Level)/128 + (Agility*Level)/128 + 2
No Back Row Modification
Hit% = 100

A follow up attack seals the deal

Ninja Rule #17: To be a ninja is to be lighter than air!

On the way out I run into 2 separate back attacks

Where in Boruto immediately gets paralyzed. I survive these fights, but these are only premonitions of things to come. Next time, we take on a big crab, some ghosts, and a few bounty hunters.
