Part 38: Post 13 - Aluminium

Walter the Chemist - Post 13 - Aluminium

"And thus, Walter's adventure is at an end."

quote:

EDIT: Also I notice a distinct lack of Sealed Temple bosses, get to cracking

Fine. You know what, fine. Fine! But I'm going to use the same provisos that T-Hawk did for his Solo Necromancer run through the Sealed Temple. That is:

quote:

Here's my rule: I'd try to win everything as an actual Necromancer if possible, but also on the table is to revert to the Bare job with Dark Arts equipped. This is what you're _supposed_ to do with the job system late in the game, use the Bare job with all the accumulated power of the other classes. Fortunately, I had saved most of the gear that would go towards doing this, with a Ribbon and Aegis Shield in stock. For now, it's still a true Necromancer though.

The biggest things that T-Hawk gained were the ability to fucking heal himself, plus access to great defensive equipment like the Ribbon, Aegis Shield, etc. Walter will function the same, with the following provisos upon him:

*If Walter's a Freelancer, his abilities are !Drink and !Mix. That's it, just like a Chemist.
*Walter will, however, master Oracle off-screen for the Magic Power inheritance. Since I lack the AoE offense of a Necromancer with Dark Arts, you bet your fucking ass I'm making every Succubus Kiss have Oracle-level power behind it.
*At least a half-dozen attempts will be put in on each boss before "giving in" and turning into a Freelancer.

There's also a load of prepwork I need to do off-camera for this shit. First off apparently this hellhole doesn't even open until all four tablet dungeons are done, and I need to do Fork anyways to get the sub even if that wasn't the case. Joy of joys.

Beyond that, grinding for ingredients and gear, AP for Oracle, etc. needs to happen. Loooots of prepwork.

~one nebulous time period later~

Succubus Kiss at level 50 as a Freelancer. That has 75 magic power behind it, between the Enhancer, Aegis Shield, Ribbon, and Black Robe. When I've drink-boosted to 99?

quote:

[23:41:18] <@CarbyBot> At level 99 with 75 Magic Power, your magic M is 33. To reach the next M, you need to reach level 103.

Good heavens. I think it's time to begin.

Yes we have.

I will.

We are here. The Sealed Temple. And before I go much further, I need to do something:

Very good. I am going to take half of a page out of T-Hawk's book and use one of them (probably Krile) as an interim Beastmaster/Thief when I need them for the Sealed Temple, but for now they are dead AND petrified so they cannot become Zombies because HOLY SHIT half of this fucking temple loves to petrify. Speaking of which, this fucking hellhole temple has EVERY GODDAMNED FUCKING ENCOUNTER.

You bet your sweet ass I'm using this. Jesus christ.

After much wandering, we get to our first boss. Like the Four Job Fiesta MOTD says:

"FFV Four Job Fiesta 2015! for fuck's sake don't do the gil cave (or natural runs)"

Well, it's time for Advanced Gil Turtle Extreme.

code:
Gil Turtle (Undead, Heavy)
40000 HP
1000 MP
Immune to Holy. Absorbs Fire, Lightning, Poison, Earth, Wind, Water. Weak to Ice.
Vulnerable to Slow.

Attack
React:Death{
     Earthquake
     }
Counter(HP Damage){
     No Interrupt{
          Turtle
          Turtle
          }
     }

It's literally the same old Gil Turtle except even more badass. That Attack? 155 Attack Power @ 15 M. That Earthquake? Driven off of a fucking 19 M. Turtle? Oh it's harmless.

code:
SPECIALTY: Turtle
SPECIALTY EFFECT: Adds Aging, Poison, Darkness, Paralyze, Confuse, HP Leak

Oh and since he's undead I can't Succy Kiss him! Neat!

That said, I have one desperate ace in my hole: Blessed Kiss works. Then again, Blessed Kiss has the side effect of hasting this already fast asshole. Because yeah, Gil Turtle 2: Super Turbo Edition?

code:
SPEED: 70

That's very nearly Omega speed. And now he's hasted. Oy vey. Did I mention he has permanent Shell and Protect?!

So you know what I'm gonna do? I'm going to heal him to death.

Hi-Potion / Hi-Potion makes 1.8x Hi-Potion, if you'd forgotten. Pharmacology means this does 1800 damage to the Undead.

Time to cram 23 of these down his throat.

FINAL LEVEL: 50
RECORDED MIXES: 28
DEATHS: 0

Now yes, I did cheap out on Gil Turtle with Blessed Kiss. Mostly because A) he's the "intro" boss and fuck him, B) I couldn't see a reasonable way to avoid Turtle aside from using the Ribbon (and thus being a Super Chemist), and C) I forgot how much of an indescipherable mess the Sealed Temple is and got to my wit's end just getting to this damn turtle. I actually need to like... plan this shit out. Not just boss fights, but actual navigation.

We'll navigate later though.

Next time: More bosses. Krile lends us her powers.
