Part 56: Kid is Lost?

Chapter 7: Kid is Lost?

“See, this is the Queen. Her friends got her out but she’s sick.”
”Queen? Not King?
“That’s right!”

“Do you know where this is?”
”Li-bar-ry?

“They’re all looking for The Kid (Mid). He’s lost!”
On our first fiesta run when I told him this he spent half the time here asking ”Why he lost?” He didn’t ask that this time, though. Though ”Kid in there” came up a few times.

”Kid not up here.”
“He’s not up here?”
”Uh-uh.”

I pop the book up there of course
”Badguy in… book? Why he in there?
“To surprise us!”
I pop Shivas and Chocobos (“Funny bird!”) and get a few fat ones too (“He big!”)

”Head bad guy! Badguys come back?”
We are level 16 by the way. No wipes. He finds the book fights arresting, naming a lot of the bad guys in his way as they swap.

He starts getting antsy when I ask if he wants to try different clothes. He first says no, but then wants to ”Change unicorns clothes” and he wants ”One unicorn magician.”

He points to Bartz on the screen. ”Want him be dog.” Cringing on the inside I turn him to a Berserker.
”Noooo! Want him be DOG.”
Wait what do you mea…

Oh… okay.

He ”Want them all be dogs” except Lenna but I dodge a bullet here as Faris’ beast master costume lacks the key aesthetic of sprite horns that look like doggy ears to a 3-year old. I am able to convince him to not veto Mystic Knight because they have a cape. Looking good. Look out Omega.

I have !summon2 on the beast masters and !white1 on Galuf I think here. Lenna is still subbing Learning because I am lazy. I do get Aero off on of the guys here though. He gives an amused “Hm!” at the fire sword. He asks ”What’s that song?” about the ambient music. “The Library’s music.” He asks a few more times.

”We fightin’ spider!
I dunk it and another Page 128 immediately spawns after.
”Spider back! We fightin spider again!

”Who say that!?”
“Ifrit. We we can win against him he’ll help us.”
”Fire bad guy?” I think he wonders if it is going to be Liquid Flame again. He did want to fight him again.

”What he name? He BIG."
“Ifrit” He doesn’t try to mimic my pronunciation though. We Shiva on through. No big.

“Now he’ll help us!”
”Fire bad guy no like help us?”
“No, we were just playing. We’re friends.”

“He makes fire!”
”What he name? He BIG.”
“Ifrit.”

Faris seemed to whiff more often than you’d expect. Still, these hits made me glad he didn’t shoot down the M.Knight. We make it to Mid and books rush us and…

”He in there?
“He’s the big bad guy of the library!” He doesn’t ask his name and I don’t think to tell him it.

”Why he a frog?
“He turned him into a frog!”
Usually when he sees a web used he comments on it. He loves spiderman, also finds spiders very arresting. Webs are part and parcel of this. When Byblos later drops slow on Galuf though and I mention webs, he doesn’t. He probably just already ‘understands’ it. There is a lot of stuff going on in the fight after all and frogs are pretty great.
The beast masters? Basically !white or !summonbots. No patience for !catch.

”He say that?”
Galuf ends up being utterly sidelined by Slow and Frog, which is fine because he had like !white 1. I’ somehow get along without cure 1. Lenna gets Magic Hammer’d which is actually great because Learning. We win, obviously.

“Hey it’s the kid, Mid! We found him!”
”Where he grandpa?”

“They were looking for Mid but we found them.”
”All them looking for kid?” He points to one of the scholars, ”Him too?”
“Him too.”
”Him and him?”

My son and Mid are on the same page. I think part of why he likes Mid is that he kind of identifies with him: they have the same hair color you see. He commented on Krile having the same hair too when she first showed up in the fiesta run.

This is where we stand. Two dog magicians. One unicorn magician and a Mystic Knight that he didn’t say no to. Could be worse. Man I am probably not getting a white mage until we get Krile.
Mid runs off of course to go find Cid. I explain he is going to find his grandpa,
”Go too!
“Next time!”

Next time: I’M ON A BOAT MOTHERF- er, mommy.
