Introduction
Final Fantasy XII was conceptualized by SquareEnix's Matsuno as part of the Ivalice series of games. Unfortunately due to rumored pressure to get a game out and disputes over such trivial things as the main character, Matsuno left the company for 'health' reasons while FFXII was halfway through development. The result is a game that has some interesting concepts but an inconsistent story and characters.
The gameplay itself can be described similarly as interesting with some caveats. The game eschews the usual ability to control an entire party and instead hands you control of one character directly. The other party members are controlled entirely by their 'gambits', which is essentially a series of simplistic programs such as, "Ally HP<=50 Use Potion" organized by priority of use. You could also set gambits for your main character, essentially making the game a matter of moving from location to location to use your gambits on. The game also completely removed a separate battle screen, so battles were initiated by how close to a group of enemies you were as opposed to random encounters and seamlessly moving from battle to overworld travel.

Indeed! This LP will be fraught with many dangers, including the length of the game. It's entirely possible to spend 70 hours playing the game to the final boss and over 90+ hours if you do the hunts.
Isn't this basically a Single Player MMORPG? With gameplay where you set up a program to play the game for you?
It pretty much is! Although I have fond memories of the game, it can be rather grindy and mindless. Thankfully the vast majority of the grinding and retreading over maps will be edited out.
