Part 108: Dight NPC Chatter 10

Welcome back!

: Nothing to worry about, though. Dr. Alma's a great doctor. She makes everyone well right away. She'll cure that girl's illness in no time.

: Oh, she got sick. It's just a small thing. She'll be better soon. Dr. Alma said so.

: ...

: What's the matter, Justin? Why do you look so worried?

: Oh, it's nothing, really! It's just... she will get better soon, right? She'll be OK, huh?

: When I grow up, I want to be a fisherman just like my Dad. That's what I want!

: I also followed in my father's footsteps by becoming an adventurer! You can do it! Dreams do come true!

: When I grow up to be a fisherman, I'm gonna haul up a big ol' fish that's even bigger than Whale Rock!

: Good! I know Dr. Alma can cure any illness!

Why yes, this is clearly the best screenshot possible of this guy.

: Why don't you just train with Gadwin?

: Huh? You don't mean my rival would train with me, do you? I mean... I can't keep up with Gadwin! So, uh, is there anywhere good enough for us to train at?

: Actually, we'd like to train in the Sea of Mermaids. Is that OK with you?

: YOu... you gotta be kidding! Are you trying to get me killed?

: gathering vegetables in the mountains, and the Valley of the Flying Dragon. The mountains of Dight are rich with vegetables, so we decided to go see. And guess what? Plants are growing again near the Typhoon Tower! Yes, I'm sure that's a place with more plants than anywhere else! ♥

: Don't worry! No problem! If we use the Mysterious Vanishing Hill, we'll be there in no time!

Thankfully, most of the NPCs with new dialog reference either Sue being with Dr. Alma, or the Mysterious Vanishing Hill.

: Ha ha! I'm getting kinda embarrassed being called a hero all of the time.

: Hey, isn't that armband proof enough? Even the village elder says so. It has found its rightful owner! ♪ Though you're not of the Dragon Folk, we Dragon Folk are proud to have a hero such as you in our midst.

And thus was the ancient epic of bravery passed down through the generations.

: But he just says "It's not just 'cuz I like it! I'm doin' it for you! ♥" What a drag! I'm starting to think it means we're getting married soon. ♥

: Yeah... Feena... I hadn't noticed that we were asking too much of poor little Sue.

: Sue hides her weaknesses from others. Especially those who are close to her. But she's a very strong child, indeed.

: I know how Sue feels, though. Long ago, I used to have someone by my side, too.

: Yes, that poor child is sick. I should go to Dr. Alma's and pay her a visit.

: Thank you! Sue will be very happy!

: Well, let's go, Feena. Gadwin, don't be slow!

: Just to Mysterious Vanishing Hill.

: Mysterious Vanishing Hill? You mean that place a little south of here? What's up with those ruins over there?

: There's a legend that talks about a mysterious place that's linked to a very pleasant place. What will you do there? I've always thought it was just a legend, isn't it?

: There are sad good-byes, like now. But it's also been a lot of fun! I've met so many different people.

: Oh, I see. I think I should get my courage up and try traveling. Once the mermaid season is over, I'll try crossing the Sea of Mermaids.

You know, I like Dight. The NPCs are clustered together, so it's easy to do an efficient path through all of them.

: What a strange thing.... You have to stop fishing because of the mermaid season?

: Well, of course! Don't you know? We fishermen, we're not afraid of anything in the sea-- except mermaids! Well, if you can still call the survivors of the Dwarven Mermaid Bone Farm "mermaids".... Well, we had a good catch this year. No problem to end this season. Now we can all take it easy. ♪

: Teleportation Orb from the top fo the hill. So the first thing is to go find the Teleportation Orb.

Dude, that was, like, four whole dungeons ago. Get with the times.

: THe legend says it is because the Spirits recognize the new hero. And now Dight has been blessed. If it weren't for you, Hero Justin, Dight would not be anything like it is now. May the peace we enjoy today last forever more.

Okay, at least you have an excuse. Plants and such take time to bloom when environmental stress is removed. What do you think this is, an anime JRPG?

: I don't understand, but it sure is beautiful, isn't it?

Thankfully, not the same way they are "enjoying themselves" over in Gumbo.

: We're getting back to the way of living that we had taken for granted before the poisonous rain fell. Now we know the true value of the "ordinary" lives we had been living. We can appreciate that now. We had never thought of our "ordinary" lives as being so rich and beautiful-- until now.

: We'll be back real soon. Leave the gate unlocked, OK?

: Of course, of course. Well, have a safe trip.

And that's that for Dight. For now. There's still a few more dialog-changing plot events to cover. But first...

Back to Gumbo. Thankfully, (hopefully) for the final time.

: Ha ha.... Well, you know....

: Recently my daughter Naina and young Danda have become a couple. The two have been in love all along. As her father, I would like them to return to my place on occasion. (sob, sob)

Trust me, dude, you don't want them anywhere near this place.

Although they are still willing to cart us over to the Twin Towers, in case you haven't thought to go back yet.

Yep, they remembered to change this one bit of dialog here due to the lack of Puffy.

Same here.

And now, finally, we are done forever with this cursed village.

... Wait, what about Shirumi, Gongo, and Yuiyui? We don't just leave that plot with them all angry, do we?

...
