Part 3

The cooking line you guys didn't get was a reference to Lucrezia Borgia, illegitimate daughter of Pope Alexander VI (from before he became pope). The Borgias were one of the families in Italy in the 15th and 16th centuries, producing two popes in 50 years. The whole family was known for corruption and murder, and Lucrezia picked up a reputation for poisoning in particular, hence the cooking joke. These days historians think there was no real basis for her reputation, but it's still a (relatively) common joke. Peabody (from the Peabody's Improbable History segment on Rocky and Bullwinkle) referred to her as "history's most infamous bartender."
