The Inner Sphere Hunchback is a classic machine. It's simple lines and rugged features belay the presence of one of the most devastating designs ever to roam the battlefields of the future. It is a strategic competitor with the 50t Centurion, and the difference between the two lay in the primary weapon, their choice of Autocannon.

The Hunchback carries into battle the massive, deadly Class 20 Autocanon. This is the single more damaging weapon regularly seen in the Inner Sphere, matched only by the LRM-20 and exceeded only by experimental weapons not yet readily available in 3059.

In combat, this 'Mech simply advances on the enemy, depending on its armor to protect it until it gets into range of its weapon, and then start ripping into the enemy with unparalleled destruction. It does the same in MechCommander, and BattleTech, although only being limited to 13 shots (2.5t of ammo) means that conservation is key, so that the Hunchback can utilize its destructive power on deserving foes, and not random targets.

As a note, any variant of the Hunchback that does not mount the AC/20, such as the -4H with its AC/10, are often called Swaybacks.

The -A comes in two tons short of the 50t maximum, so I added an AMS with 1t of ammo, and a Small Laser. The Cannon (-4G) design includes more Medium Lasers, but I wanted something a bit different.

The -J allows for faster mobility in bringing the short-ranged weapons to bear. However, to mount these Jump Jets, the Hunchback reduces it armor from 10.5 to 8.5t, but redistributes them towards the fore. Don't get shot in the back!

The -W is effectively the same between the MechCommander and BattleTech versions. The AMS, Small Laser and a Medium Laser are stripped out to make weight for a single Large Laser. This exchange allows the Mech to hit enemies outside of close range, giving it the ability to harass its target before moving in for the killing blow.
