Part 20

We have to hit scenario mode again after finishing the game for the last missions.

There is no new dialogue regarding the completion of the last mission. Almost everyone acts as if you haven't completed that mission, and repeats the dialogue we've read in Episodes 17 and 18. The exceptions are with those who offer missions, but even then they don't recognize that we've completed the last mission.

10 Junk is available now, up from 8.

Arthur offers And Now to the Future on an infinite loop.

The endgame is all about trying to wrap up loose plot threads. Emphasis on trying.

"I've had my share of battles. I want to see what it's like to battle against an expert like you."

"Recently, you and I have changed. Let's find out how much."

A lot of these final mission take place at the Ruins, with the other Visions giving no indication that they know where they are. Treat all of these missions as if they are tagged with Important, because if you want to find out about the fates of the NPCs, you should watch them.

Watch Meister

Let's listen to: June 6th, 1666 (Zain)

That's the order and names of the last cutscenes.

These next few missions are from Tetsuya. By the way, Know was missing from his spot near the shop.

This is one of the hardest missions in the game.

Watch Elite Disappearance

Know is still gone.

"controlling Guard, or Guard is leading him, is unclear. Regardless, bring them both back."

This mission is much easier than the previous one.

Watch An Odd Friendship

I'm not sure what this log is supposed to mean. Especially the line, "So there are many other people." It's possible this is a clumsy attempt at a sequel hook.

This is the last mission ever from Tetsuya.

Watch Solitary Battle

We'll find out more about this soon.

Watch Survivor

This is not a selectable map in multiplayer, it's soley used for the fight with Demented Freia.

Sammah wants revenge because he was unable to use his Erase skills in a previous mission. What doesn't make sense is that we already defeated those monsters, so there's nothing to get revenge on.

Watch Angry Counter Attack

Famous last words.

"It's awkward to talk about it here--let's go talk about it on the surface?"

Watch Confidential: Cuff Button

Cuff Button will never return.

I think the idea is that when Cuff Button betrayed JD, JD was left on the surface long enough that he forgot most of his memory. Let' s go see if he has anything to say on the matter.

Watch Breaking with the Past

JD will also never be back. Both Breaking with the Past and Confidential: Cuff Button were available at the same time, but there was no confrontation between Cuff Button and JD that we're aware of or get to witness.

That's the last memory box of Phantom Dust. There are 164 in total. With that, there's nothing more that single player has to offer us.

That's all of the skills I collected through the LP.

And that's my final arsenal.

I want to show off the basics of split-screen multiplayer before the LP is over, and it's not long enough to stand as it's own part.

You get to choose a profile for arsenal data and whatnot, depending on if you're selected memory device has any saves with arsenal data.

The lab is just like the lab in single player.

Here are the other modes:

Quick
Arsenal Restriction: No arsenal
Arsenals used during this battle have been pre-created for a Quick battle. One of multiple versions of arsenals will be randomly assigned to each player.

Puny
Arsenal Restriction: None
In this battle, the lower a skill's Cost, the more beneficial it is during the match. All participants start with a maximum Level of 5 and 10 Health. Due to the level cap, some skills are not useable.

Heavy
Arsenal Restriction: None
In this battle, the higher a skill's Cost, the more beneficial it is during the match. All participants start at Level 5 with 40 Health.

Special Environment
Arsenal Restriction: None
At intervals, a destructable Environment Crystal will appear.

Single School
Arsenal Restriction: Limited to a single school per arsenal
Select one of the following schools: Optical, Nature, Ki, Psycho, Religion.
Your arsenal can only contain skills from the chosen school.

It's supposed to be Faith, not Religion.

Highlander
Arsenal Restriction: No duplicate skills allowed.
Your arsenal for this battle cannot contain duplicate skills.

Puny Only
Arsenal Restriction: Skill cost 3 or lower
Your arsenal can only contain skills that cost 3 Aura or less.

Heavy Only
Arsenal Restriction: Skill cost 3 or higher
Your arsenal can only contain skills that cost 3 Aura or more.

For each map, there are variants for every different color scheme from the single player mode.

The usual cast is present..

..but if you press both the left and right triggers at the same time, you can select from most of the enemies from the single player mode. Here's the list: Vestio, Ommato, Anthro, Ceno, Partheno, Andro, Guard, Catoptro, Gyne, Claustro, Scoto.

There are four color options for each selectable character and monster. Aside from the aesthetic differences, the other main difference between the characters is how they dodge. In the single player mode, we can only jump, but there are other types available to different characters.

Doctor Reynolds posted:

So, let's talk about dodging! We touched on this earlier but let's get in to proper details. There's three types of dodging characters have (depends on the character, for example Nanashi/"Protagonist" can only jump) which is: Jumping, Cartwheeling, and Rolling. Technically there's like six but the rest are useless moves the various monsters do that nobody seriously played as.

Jumping: Very mobile, as you can jump off levels and around railings and whatnot. You can lead people on wild goose chases for a while! Also can dodge a lot of skills (if you're talented and time it properly), master of the Juke, and can very easily interrupt potential combos. Interrupting combos is done by jumping and getting hit by the set-up skill, which causes you to fall flat on your ass. While you're knocked over, 99% of skills can't hit you. You can cleverly mess up being teamed up on with this strategy. Projectiles, especially with additional accuracy buffs, can be very difficult to deal with. The skill "Reincarnation" was a very popular anti-Jumper attack.

Cartwheeling: Very difficult to hit with melee skills, can also dodge most projectiles with ease. They can be frustrating to deal with, to be sure. There is a slight delay in moving after they finish their cartwheel that can be exploited if you're precise. They are very susceptible to being combo'd on, as well. These were very popular characters to play as (Sammah, Edgar, and pH only) as they allowed you to really skimp on having Defense skills and be more aggressive. The skill "Crawlers" was a very popular anti-Cartwheel attack, as were most crawler type attacks.

Rolling: Basically a wimpy version of cartwheeling. You don't go as far as a cartwheel when you roll, so you can't dodge as well. The only upside is there is no delay at the end of your roll, so you can just keep going. These characters were basically never used, as you didn't get the mobility of jumpers or the ease of dodging with cartwheelers. Anyone who played as a Roller did so because they just felt like playing as a different character. (JD, Cuff Button, Guard, some others I can't remember)

Then you select your arsenal.

P2 repeats the process, and then you're good to go.

I don't really have much to show off, here.

The redicle is less detailed than in single player.

Let's listen to: Face To Face (War Mode)

I couldn't figure out where this song is supposed to play during the game.

That's it for Phantom Dust.
