Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner

by PeaceDiner

Part 2: Alternate Kumiko dialogue

This update will cover all of the alternate dialogue throughout the beginning of the game (a lot of which are "be a bitch to Kumiko"), starting with inside the protagonist's house. I won't repost dialogue from choices that I picked from the first update. I'll simply summarize the in-between rather than repost dialogue.

In the beginning I'm being yelled at by my mother to get the phone. Last time I agreed, but I'll be a rebel this time.

YES
>NO

MOM'S VOICE: Naoto! What are you doing? Hurry down here.

Kumiko invites me to the Afro Cafe, where I order my drink. All of the options except for Mocha are followed by "One [drink], then," so I'll skip to when Kumiko comes in and asks me to order her something.

: Order me something, okay?

>Why're you asking me?
You want orange juice?

: See, you were waiting for me. Are you angry?

: Come on, Shibata...

>I'm angry

: I-I'm sorry...

OR

>I'll forgive you if you drink Tabasco Cola

: Heehee, I'll take you up on that since you're just playing...

If you say you'll order her orange juice:

: Why do I get orange juice when you're having coffee? Are you trying to say something?

>I didn't mean anything by it

: Hmm, is that so?

After ordering, Kumiko points to the TV which is showing a report of the new redevelopment plan. She then asks my opinion.

>I oppose it

: So you feel the same way.

>Give a different opinion

: Couldn't they still do this redevelopment while still leaving some of the nicer old buildings?

>......

: You're not interested at all, are you?

Kumiko mentions that she needs a book from the library and begs me to come along.

>Sure

: Alright, let's get going.

>Where?

: The central library. Just exit the cafe, head south, and you'll find it on the right side of the street. It's right nearby.

>Let's go somewhere else

: Sorry, I really need to get this book before the end of the day. Come on, please?

Last time we agreed to go, so this time:

>I don't want to

: Well, I'm still going no matter what. Come on, let's go.

We go to the library with Kumiko. After finding her in the back with the book she needs, she asks if we've read the book.

>Of course

Leading to:

: Well then, what's it about?

>The story of Yamatai-koku

: Something like that? It's definitely not a normal book.

OR

>Actually, I haven't read it

: Thought so. It's not something a normal person would read.

>I don't think I have

: Figured so. It's not something a normal person would read.

>I'm not interested

: You really don't seem to be, not at all.

Kumiko goes to check out the book, but panics when it turns out she forgot her library card.

>Just use your ID

: Huh? You can use those? Thanks for telling me, that's a relief.

>Laugh at your girlfriend's failure

: What's so funny? This isn't the time to be laughing. Oh, I know. Just lend me your card, okay? Now I can check it out. This can be your punishment for laughing at me.

After checking the book out, Kumiko asks me to come with her to her school.

>Refuse

: Don't say that. Come with, please?

Leading to:

>I'll come with

: Sorry, things are just like this right now.

OR

>I don't want to

: Don't be so selfish. The world doesn't revolve around you, so let's go.

We head to Kitayama University. First we try the front gates.

>It's the school's main gate.
It's locked.

: Oh, of course it's locked. Let's try the back.

If we're a student, she'll say:

: Actually, you can always enter and exit from the back gate. You didn't know? For when you're leaving school.

If we aren't a student, she'll say:

: Well, the back gate's always open. It's convenient, but a bit dangerous.

If we're a student and use the back gate, she'll say:

: You can always enter and exit from here. Of course you'd know that, it's just common sense at Kitayama.

One last scene, where Kumiko asks if I can pick up her tickets.

>Insist on waiting

: This is going to take a while. Do this for me, please?
