Let's Play Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner is, at its name implies, the very first in Atlus's Shin Megami Tensei spin-off series Devil Summoner. Though the series is now mostly remembered for its Raidou Kuzunoha entries, it started off as a basic turn-based RPG for the Sega Saturn. The game was released in 1995, and it received a PSP remake in 2005 with some enhancements to ease the game into more modern RPG convenience.

I'll be playing the Sega Saturn original in all of its mid-90s RPG glory. It's not the greatest Shin Megami Tensei game, but it's certainly not the worst, either, and I think it has quite a bit of charm to it. While it's not as popular as other MegaTen titles, its legacy is felt throughout the rest of the Devil Summoner series and, honestly, it's still a great game despite its shortcomings.

It's a fun ride, so I hope you enjoy reading through this mostly-forgotten Shin Megami Tensei release! Look forward to a plethora of demons, a gun-toting private detective, a suspicious priest, and even murder.

The LP will be done via screenshots and videos for in-game FMVs and boss battles. The music in this game is pretty great, so I'll be linking tracks as they come up, indicated by a .

Game dialogue is in regular text and my commentary is in italics. Choices I can make are in bold, and ">" is used for in-game choices and prompts. is used for videos.

The game never received an English release, so this LP will be using an original translation by yours truly.

I doubt most people know much about the game's story, so no spoilers. However, discussion about other Devil Summoner games is free-reign.
