Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne

by Luisfe

Part 70

Update 67:

In this update, the first part of the Fifth Kalpa shall be explored. Why just the first? Because I was dumb for not saving after acquiring all the magatamas not found on the Tower, and the Elixir. Durrr.

First, loading this save file here. No way I am going to play all the way up to that place again, just to get the second ending from a fresh newgame+. No sir.

And then, after a repeat performance of fusing mitamas to demons, getting all but two magatamas (Kailash and Masakados), beating Bishamon again, etc, it is time to get into the fifth kalpa. The last one.

"... You know, I have to admit. You've got guts. I'm impressed that you made it this far."

Dante needs to improve his one liners and clichés.

Well that was moderately unexpected.

"A demon hiring a demon slayer... It's the joke of the century, don't ya think? So, how 'bout it?"

I said I would. And here it is. Dante. He is quite useful for a while, but even now, he is pretty much outclassed by Metatron, Beelzebub and Black Frost.
Since Black Frost lacks almighty spells, he gets the axe, but shall be in the team in case one of the other members of the battle team falls. Or something.

Well, it's not like there was anything or anyone else who could have paid him. Well, maybe the Collector Manikin, what with his horrible magatama prices. Buuut Insert has raided most of the treasuries in the Vortex World already.

OH WAIT, there is someone, the dude in the Cathedral of Shadows, charging a lot for demons.

If you know about this, there is no way you can lose. It uses a special coin, I believe it was used in Devil May Cry 2 as well, but since I have not played that one, I do not know (I have played half of DMC1 and the first level of DMC3, so my knowledge is lacking in that game series. I know that 1 and 3 are awesomely fun, though)

Sounds fair to me. Hurr.

HEADS FOREVER.

He flips the coin.

And I WIN.

Unfortunately, that does not mean that Insert owns him. Sure, he will go to the weird place where Insert stores his demons when he is not active, but he can't be fused. NOT EVEN with Mitama. That puts Dante at a definite disadvantage, since his stats cannot be raised to 40 like with the other demons. In the end, he will be outclassed. Hell, he is CURRENTLY outclassed, but I said that I would use Dante, so there it goes.

Well, it is better than "Dongs".

But... WHAT SIDE SHALL INSERT JOIN?

New member.

This place looks familiar, doesn't it?

"Even if you think you've found a dead end, make absolutely sure before you ty another direction. Well, that's my advice, choose to follow it if you wish."
Lots and lots of false walls in this floor.

Not so bad stats, eh? His skillset is bleh right now, though.
E&I is a physical skill that hits random enemies with BULLETS, not very impressive. Rebellion is another physical skill, does a sword combo. Nice looking. Roundtrip is a Electric skill, he throws his sowrd (I think it is Alastor, not sure, though), like a boomerang. Whirlwind, force/Wind spell, he makes tornados with his sword. For those two skills alone, he is worth bringing to the Noah fight. Hm. Him and Black Frost shall be there.
Don't remember right now what Holy Star does, Provoke does what Taunt does, and refills Dante's health. Intimidate is a conversation skill. Bullet Time is an improved version of E&I, with a better animation and Panic effect, I think.
He is going to get a couple of good skills later on, but he levels up slower even than Beelzebub, so aaargh.

"This is where the women loyal to our master gather. You have done well in not dissapointing him. But if you underestimate us, you will not live to regret it!"
There is only one female that is authentically dangerous in this floor. KALI. She'll be shown in a while.

Not planning to!

OH GOD UGLY DEMON NO.

Not in the least. No. She is not an old bag. SHE IS A NIGHTMARE. A NIGHTMARE.

Hee.

This place is filled with false walls. This is clearly one of those.

See? It's easy, not really confusing at all, since there is a handy map.
You know what would make this a hellish dungeon?
TELEPORTERS AND HOLES.

Hooray, treasures.

She kind of looks like Manfred von Karma, I think.

In this case, skulls.

Floor map. Rather simple, eh?

First floor done. Next time: MORE FLOORS.
